Works ok for me.

I agree that you should never put on/off switch in solar lights. That said, once I figured out the switches they are on permanently. The lights put out the same brilliance as any other solar lights used for highlighting. Stay lit for adequate amount of time. Maybe I got lucky, but I like them.
