Recently purchased a monthly subscription with activation. Complicated to use for a novice at tech. Unsure of connectivity and unable to confirm a message was sent.

Thing works great. Hopefully I never need to hit the sos button. But so nice to know that I could. Sending messages offshore with no service is simple.

I regret buying this without knowing how expensive the subscription model is and that the device is useless without a subscription.
Has not worked.

The Garmin inReach Mini 2 has been a game-changer for me. Its satellite communication allows seamless text messaging (especially when paired via Bluetooth with my phone), even without cell service, providing peace of mind both for myself and those wanting to know if I am ok in the backcountry. The TracBack routing is excellent for safe navigation back to your starting point. This compact device boasts robust battery life for multi-day trips and is incredibly durable. It's remarkably simple to use, especially when paired with the Garmin Explore or Garmin Messenger app. The interactive SOS feature offers a great safety net, connecting directly to emergency services. Lightweight, reliable, durable and packed with essential communication and navigation tools, the InReach Mini 2 has been a great investment for enhanced safety, communication, confidence and peace of mind in the outdoors.
Feature that are very important for me and family.

Good for beginners and advanced. I rented one of these for my R2R trip last year and worked great. Tracked my location even at the bottom of the canyon and was able to text my pickup ride how close i was to topping out. Now with this deal now i’m going to buy it since i go out off the trails more.

The unit is so small that it is laborious to use. Difficult to understand instructions and operation. For example it seems impossible to add contact easily or at all to the unit. The owners manual is also difficult to use, incomplete and not user friendly.

Just got my inreach about two weeks ago. I had the pn-60w and spot communicator before, so I was familiar with how Garmin (DeLorme) funtioned. Happy to say that initiaing the inreach was super easy. Choosing data plans was super easy. And connecting to the Garmin Expore and Garmin Messenger apps turned out super easy as well. I soend a lot of time in the back country. So even my wife is thrilled with a much better form of communication and location tracking.

I've only been able to test this on small hikes around the area and not really gone off the beaten path much. But what I've seen so far impresses me with its functionality, connectivity and interaction with the Garmin apps. If you're heading out into someplace without cell service or if you're just looking for a bit of a security blanket when you need to head out alone, this is a good device. The size and weight are fantastic and I like the build quality. Just a bit of a learning curve because the screen input is all handled by side buttons, but I picked it up quickly and I'm sure most people would get used to how to use it quickly, as well.

Only had the Mini 2 for about a month, and we had to use it this week. Some folks at a campsite in Glacier had an emergency, and we used our Mini 2 to send an SOS. The Garmin Response folks were very communicative and put us in touch with the emergency services folks. There was a storm where we were, but it didn't take more than a few minutes for messages to go out, unlike our previous SOS device (not a Garmin). Even with the Mini 2 on and sending messages on and off for three hours, we only used 20% of the battery, which I thought was impressive compared to my other device that would use 5% just to send one message because it took over 20 minutes for the message to go out. I also love getting the weather, even if it's not the most accurate because weather in the mountains is unpredictable. It was still accurate enough for us to make decisions during our trip. I also like that there is no charge for messages between you and the Garmin Response team.

Climbed Mt. Whitney a few weeks ago and was able to communicate with family and friends the whole time. They could also see us on the map and watch our progress. Slow as it was. :) Didn't need the SOS but was glad to have it just in case. I will continue to take our InReach for all hikes in the future.

Was prompted to buy this after a scare that my wife had over not being able to contact me for a period of time on one of my hunting trips. Great product, taken on many hunting and fishing trips in remote areas and was still able to communicate with friends and family. They offer a Search and rescue subscription as well which is excellent for providing you that sense of security when you need it most. Very easy to use and would highly recommend for any outdoor enthusiasts.

My son bought this for me a month ago. I am working feverishly to learn all of its features for a big trip soon. I've watched a video over and over. Each time I learn more about the Mini. I've tried a number of features out on the trail. Some worked and some didn't because I didn't do it right. I'm not tech savvy which makes for a steeper curve while learning. I've done an SOS test and feel confident in that feature which is the most important. I do like the size and weight. Hopefully soon I will feel more confident in using many of the features the Mini has to offer!

It sounds like you're doing a great job learning how to use your inReach Mini 2, but if you ever need some extra help, you can call Garmin Support at 800-800-1020 > select option 4 for Outdoor products > select option 4 for inReach products. *KC

We used the InReach Mini2 to communicate with our family while climbing Mt. Whitney. We were able to let our family know we were ok even when we were WAY behind and a lot later getting to the bottom of the mountain than planned.
