Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

    Its a gamble

    The adjustable strap broke on these new pants. I went to go return them and was told I could not return them because they had been worn. I never thought I’d be one of these people, but I am. The product is obviously defective. We have never had the adjustable straps break on us. My daughter is 13. I bought an identical pair in another color and those are fine. If a product is defective it shouldn’t be the fault of the consumer. I never imagined being told that this is the gamble I was taking when I let my baby put the pants on to use them as intended when I purchased them. Kinda has me scared to pay $25+ for pants. I can’t afford to gamble in this economy.

    For skinny girls!

    I bought these cuffed jeans for my 11 now 12 year old daughter who is very slender - i can never find jeans that fit her waist but are long enough- I bought the size 7 and 8 with cuff, took the cuff OUT and they are perfection. I had to still tighten the internal button waist sizer - but finally she got the wide leg baggier jean she was after as a tween that were long enough! I stocked up on several pairs and took the cuff out on all and she loves them. The button hole to unbutton the pants is tight and difficult so I actually stretched that wider with a plyers so she could button them herself. Getting crafty, but it all worked and she’s a happy camper.

    I got these for my granddaughter in size 18 PLUS. Her hips are 41/42” and waist is 36, she,s 5’1” tall. (Size chart says 34.5” waist and 39” hips) These were a little snug, but still would have worked. The jeans are cute,, but not bad at all. I loved the hidden stretch in the waistband! HOWEVER, my granddaughter is a little chubby & the front pockets STICK OUT to the side, which is NOT very flattering. If it weren’t for the pockets, these would have been perfect:(
