New version is awful

This is been my favorite cereal since childhood. I just bought a box of the "redesigned" cereal and it's awful. It tastes like a cheap knockoff. They are no longer squares, and the taste and crunch are gone. It seems like I'm eating Styrofoam peanuts. I am so sad and disappointed. Unless you bring back the old recipe, you have lost a loyal customer.

Terrible. You had to go out of your way to botch a solid, winsome recipe. Way-to-go!

This is the worst cereal I’ve ever had. I will never buy it again. It had no brown sugar taste at all
This cereal is just as wonderful as it was!

Astonishingly bad since the recall. Chalky, uninspiring flavor. This new rectangular kibble lacks the crunch of the older version.
Recipe change is awful, cereal is not worth buying

This has been one of my favorite cereals for YEARS, to the point I'd buy it even when it wasn't on sale. When I had a hard time finding it at my grocery store, I didn't think much of it, but was happy when it showed back up on the shelf. But I did NOT know they changed the recipe! I couldn't even finish my bowl. The flavor is closer to cardboard, the size is smaller, and they get soggy even faster now. So disappointed that one of my favorites is inedible now, and I have a full box of cereal that I'm going to just...throw away.

After the recall this cereal is not Quaker Oatmeal Squares. If I wanted puffed rice I would have bought that. This cereal has no flavor or crunch. I am very disappointed.

This is my favorite cereal besides rice crispies. I don't use milk on cereal. I eat it on the go. These taste similar to fresh waffle cones to me. The crunch is awesome.

I eat Oatmeal almost daily. It's the breakfast I grew up eating, and I still love it. I'm 78, so do the math; that is a lot of Quaker's Oatmeal. I noticed Oatmeal Squares Brown Sugar at the supermarket and purchased a box. I found them to be too dry and lacking flavor.

This is still my go to cereal if I need a quick snack. I don't know why everyone is complaining about the new changes, it tastes fine to me; I actually really like that it isn't crunchy because crunchy food hurts my gums. TBH I don't remember it ever being crunchy? I haven't gotten it in a few years but I don't really notice a difference. To each their own I suppose.

Something changed. The squares are now smaller rectangles, the fibers don't separate, it's not as crunchy, it's different. And not in a good way. Change it back or just kill it forever. The current iteration of this product as of April 2025 is a shadow of it's former self, and it's still one of the most expensive boxes on the aisle.

Was so excited to see these back on the shelf. What a disappointment!!! Even my husband noticed and he’s not the picky kind at all. Not crunchy at all. Please go back to the old product. Definitely won’t be purchasing again. 😕

I’ve eaten oatmeal squares almost every morning for decades, but this replacement version is not good. I bought 4 boxes. After one helping, I trashed the rest and donated the unopened 3 boxes. I really miss this cereal but the replacement version is a non-starter.

I can’t believe it after months of waiting for the cinnamon Square crunch cereal from Quaker oats due to their screwup! They changed the recipe. Why would they do that? Isn’t there anything to loyalty anymore? We were loyal to the cereal. We love the cereal, the crunch, the heaviness the Feeling of being full after eating it. Now we have puffs!! So unhappy, first at Southwest and now it’s Quaker Oats! You’re gonna have to find a whole new millions of people to eat your cereal

The whole product team should lose their jobs over this change which I am sure was done to cut costs. Have you ever heard of market research?

This is my favorite cereal. We just discovered it this year and our whole family loves it. Very lightly sweet, great crunch and a very appealing shape. It’s delicious with our without a bowl of milk, however, in milk it still maintains a great crunch. I always get 2 boxes when Target runs their 2 for $9 promotions! Love it!
