The new packaging for the 312 hearing aid batteries has received significant criticism for being extremely difficult to open, especially for seniors and those with limited hand strength. Many guests have expressed frustration over the need for scissors or specialized tools to access the batteries, which detracts from the convenience of using them. Despite the batteries themselves being reliable and long-lasting, the packaging redesign has led to a negative experience for many users, prompting them to consider alternative brands.

i must replace 312 Batteries for my 92 year husband who is deaf without hearing aids. The new packaging i have to deal with is not at all easy. Do you expect one to carry scissors with them, since batteries go out at any time or place? Child proof is not the big problem, poor new packaging is the problem.

I've used only your brand of batteries since I began wearing a hearing aid about five years ago. The batteries are consistently working well. However, it's your recent change in packaging that is driving me away...to a different brand. The rigid plastic packaging is impossible to cut through with a scissors. If one's hands are strong enough to use the scissors on that plastic, it's almost impossible to separate the two pieces. The plastic is sharp (especially once cut with the scissors) and slices into a user's skin and can cause bleeding, which can be dangerous to an elderly person on blood thinners. Is there any chance that you will change this dangerous packaging to a type that is user-friendly? I would prefer to return to your battery vs. using a competitor's.

The recently changed packaging makes the 312 batteries almost impossible to open. Scissors have to be used to open and no good or clear instructions. The plastic packaging is tough and very difficult and dangerous to cut/open. Extremely difficult to open packaging. A person should not have to go find a pair of scissors just to perform what used to be a simple process to change batteries. The person who came up with this new packaging should be fired.

Rayovac batteries are great , but the new packaging is terrible, being blind in one eye and joint problems having to get scissors to open them creates a real problem getting the batteries out to use. With no kids around making them child proof was a stupid idea, a high shelf works better and the older packaging was much easier on seniors. So now to taking a backup batteries with me I either have to take scissors with me or cut them out and put in a plastic bag to carry with me.

I've used 312's for several years. I've felt like Ray o vac is a quality product at a good price with super convenient, easy to use packaging. Yesterday I bought my first 312's in the new packaging. Rayo vac, you've made a big marketing mistake! From easy to child (&adult) proof. I just spent 10 minutes opening the package and cutting out the hearing aids. What a pain. You really need to rethink the packaging. Such a big backward step compared to your original packaging. Please try again! I would only recommend the batteries not the packaging.
Total Disaster trying to open.

In your zeal to make Child Resistant packages, you have also made Senior Citizen resistant packages. They are pretty much impossible for me to get in to with my arthritic hands. Don't know why the VA is providing Child Resistant packages to senior citizens. Looks like I will have to buy a different brand of non child resistant packages.
Absolutely the worst packaging I've ever encounter

It is nearly impossible to get the batteries out of this packaging with cutting your fingers, breaking your scissors, and teaching your spouse a whole host of new curse words. I will never (purposely) buy these batteries again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Up until recently I have been using Power One batteries, which last about 56-57 hours continuously. Then I purchased Rayovac batteries, that consistently gave me 72 hours. I am very impressed.

I’m sure there is some data that suggested the need for this sadistic packaging. It’s not worth a crap for a senior veteran with arthritis. Spend a great deal of time trying to cut through the thick plastic in silence as my battery has died.

As a senior with four years experience with hearing aids using 312 batteries, I found the "old" packaging convenient. Now the requirement to use scissors is a non-starter for many venues where battery replacement might occur. Symphony, theater, airplane in flight (TSA will not allow scissors) are impossible to now deal with with the current packaging. We are not stupid however, and will remove the batteries from the new packaging and recycle the old packaging to enable us to continue our lives unencumbered by progress while we endanger the kids in our lives! The packaging engineers can do a much better job than the current edition of 312 batteries.

The new child resistant packaging is terrible , absolutely terrible for elderly people. And I am guessing that it is elderly folks who use your 312 hearing air batteries the most!! Please, please return to old 312 battery packaging..

The Rayovac size 312 hearing aids batteries, 6 per card, are a packaging nightmare! I agree with all of the other negative comments concerning packaging and will not repeat them here but consider them included here. I have tried all kinds of scissors with minimal success. Can you recommend a specific brand/style of scissors that will work? Are you planning to do anything to replace this packaging with one that is kinder and more user friendly? Like perhaps the previous PACKAGING?

The latest packaging makes removing batteries to use next to impossible. You absolutely need very sharp tools, household scissors will NOT work.

These are used for hearing aids and most people wearing hearing aids are elderly. This child proof battery pack is insane and almost impossible for elderly with arthritis to open. They don't last near as long as batteries I've used in the past. A total waste of money

The website says 99% of seniors can access the batteries in one minute. This is true if you have a torch. Normal scissors break on the armor grade plastic. Fire the person who thought this was a good idea. The batteries are good, but they are poorly packaged.

Seriously, whoever created the child resistant packaging for these batteries needs to find another job. What used to take 10 seconds to access a battery for my hearing aids now takes about 10 minutes and only AFTER I retrieve the tool necessary to open the package. And it STILL isn’t easy!

Late 80's, rheumatoid arthritis, hearing aids for 30 yrs. You have got to be kidding about this new packaging!! Since they have to be kept separate, I will have my grandson open a few packages at a time, and store in weekly pill containers. That is another thing. How are we supposed to change them on the go with the new package???

Since the packaging has switched to "cut to open", I have so many issues retrieving my batteries. I work in a fast pace environment and struggling to cut open the packaging is not ideal. I am young and struggle with cutting it open to easily access the battery. Your main customers are older people who are going to struggle with this more than I am. Packaging needs to be reworked!
