Q: Hi, im considering getting this for my 8 year old son, however there's a lot of bad reviews regarding your batteries , what changes have you made if any to improve the battery performance
submitted by mrBarney - 3 years ago
A: The Dirt Quad is designed to go up to 40 minutes of continuous ride time on a fully charged battery. No improves have been made to the battery however different factures such as rider weight, low tire pressure and/or riding conditions (terrains) can effect the amount of ride time.
submitted byRazor USA LLC - 3 years ago
Brand expert
A: 1.) when the quad goes extremely slow, stop and charge.
2.) don't freeze the battery
3.) don't place the battery in a 140 degree garage
4.) keep it on the charger when not using
submitted byyee - 1 year ago
A: I've had ZERO battery issues after three years of use. Follow the manual on charging and battery maintenace and you'll be good to go
submitted bySuperDadd - 2 years ago
A: Get rid of the crap lead acid batteries and get 2 10ah lipo batteries!

Q: I know its a dirt quad and have rubber tires but does it drive well on grass?
submitted by Kari - 4 years ago
A: The Razor Dirt Quad SX McGrath is best suited for hard terrain like concrete or dirt, but will work on grass!
submitted byRazor USA - 4 years ago
A: 2yo and 6yo both have zero issues riding on 4" grass and through flat paths in woods. This thing is awesome.
submitted bySuperDadd - 2 years ago
A: My son rides in the grass no problem! Our grass is typically under 4" tall.
submitted byBasstronics - 4 years ago
A: Yes, it can be ridden on grass however for the best riding experience we recommend riding on smooth, flat surfaces free of any type of dirt or debris.

Q: Does this come with a rear shock? If not, can you add the one sold on the Razor website?
submitted by J79129 - 1 month ago
A: No, this dirt quad does not come with a shock. I used a 550lb, 150mm in length shock from Amazon. And while you're at it, also change the sloppy steering linkage to actual ball joint rod ends.
submitted byNot Yours - 17 days ago
A: Yes, the Dirt Quad has a shock absorber.
submitted byRazor USA LLC - 1 month ago
Brand expert
Q: Why is this advertised as a dirt quad , yet for best performance it needs to be on a dirt free surface …
submitted by Illest920 - 4 months ago
A: What suspension? All my kids got with theirs was a square tube. Had to buy my own shock and install!
submitted byNot Yours - 17 days ago
A: On Targets product page it notes : Proven on Dirt – Four 12" (305 mm) knobby pneumatic tires and rear droop travel suspension deliver a smoother ride on uneven terrain.

Q: is this too large/fast for a 3.5 year old that weighs 35 pounds?
submitted by Tom - 2 years ago
A: The Dirt Quad SX is intended for ages 8 and up. The assembled dimensions are 40″ x 22.5″ x 31″.
submitted byRazor USA LLC - 2 years ago
Brand expert
A: Not too fast at all with proper training and adult supervision. My 2yo son rides it to the limits with a DOT approved motocross helmet, boots, and knee / elbo pads for protection.
submitted bySuperDadd - 2 years ago
Q: Does it have reverse?
submitted by Jessrae - 2 years ago
A: No, the Dirt Quad does not have a reverse feature
submitted byRazor USA LLC - 2 years ago
Brand expert
A: No reverse, but has a giant steel loop on the back you can lift and move it with.
submitted bySuperDadd - 2 years ago
Q: Does this have a parental control where you can adjust the speed??
submitted by worried gmaw - 3 years ago
A: No, but my workaround is attaching a long ratchet strap to the steel loop on the back for hand held parental control until they can learn how to use the throttle / brake correctly.
submitted bySuperDadd - 2 years ago
A: No, the Dirt Quad does not have a parental control feature
submitted byRazor USA LLC - 3 years ago

My 6 year old son loves his quad. The neighbor kids all love to use it and sometimes they even fit three kids on it. I have used it as an adult at 150 lbs to move it into the house. As others have stated ours died after three months. Luckily we had a protection plan and they sent us new batteries. Since then we have had no issues. We do have to tighten down the steering wheel periodically. The suspension is great. I would not purchase without the protection plan. As others have stated too many issues. It’s a lot of money to have to replace it without the protection plan.

The old bait and switch. False advertisement. Shows that it comes with rear suspension, even states it in the video. Contacted razor and they said that the design has been changed for a straight metal tube. Also, the steering is always going to be loose plus will break easy due to the single steer arm controlling both wheels

Had it 5 years. Never a minute’s problem. Starts everytime. Differential is exposed in the back so I Simply told my grandson not to take bumps down the middle. If you’re tired of pushing them uphills then buy this. Great product. WOULD love to have a larger version with shocks for uneven terrain.

I never write reviews, because who has time? I bought this in April for my 6 year old’s birthday. He loves it! I read the reviews about the battery issues, so I bought the insurance. In July, just 3 months later, the battery stopped working. I went online to file a claim through insurance, and they told me to go straight to Razor since it was under a year old. I called Razor, and they don’t make it easy! After being on the phone discussing the issue, they made me sent them the receipt before they could send me a new battery. We received the battery and installed it. A month later, we had the same issue. Two more calls later to Razor (I tried insurance again but they sent me to Razor), both people I talked to had a different diagnosis. So the lady sent me to a razor dealer 40 minutes away. I dropped it off and they had it for a week. I picked it up today and the gentleman said the battery the quad came with AND the replacement battery Razor sent me were bad! He also said the charger was bad! So disappointed with Razor. You buy these things after reading the bad reviews hoping that you won’t be one of the unlucky ones.

Birthday Gift for My Son who's birthday is 4th of July

Christine - 2 months ago, Verified purchaser
Our Neighbor had one and had been riding daily which made our son want one. We purchased this same one after reviews from our neighbor and reading online. We have only had it 3 months and my son has maybe used it 10 times, and the battery already stopped charging. We just bought a regular Razor one for our daughters birthday 3 days ago (wanted one like brother) and was excited for them to ride together but now my son's battery won't charge after 3 months. I bought the insurance but am told to contact the manufacurer since it is still within the first year. Trying to get the manufacturers info, to contact and hoping they can resolve this quickly. I would have given 5 stars because the quad is truly awsome....but after 3 months the battery stops working/charging?! That is a serious defect! 3 stars for quality again, only because of the battery issue. I will still recommend, depending how quickly this issue is resolved if at all by the manufacterer

Made the decision this year for my sons 5th birthday to quit buying cheap Amazon "jeeps". I spent a couple hundred more to get this and so far am not disappointed at all! We are only a couple days into having it, but I'd say we've already gotten our moneys worth! I'll post later if anything happens with charging like some of these negative posts I've seen. So far, this is hands down the best gift my son has ever gotten!

VeeRich - 5 months ago, Verified purchaser
We’ve had this 4 wheeler for almost 6 months now and my 4 year old has been on it almost daily (weather permitting). I was really hesitant when we first bought this. I was hoping it would be enough power but not too fast for a 4 year old. It’s the perfect step up from a power wheels. My 4 year old is able to keep up with his older brother. We haven’t had any issues with the battery. We are sure to charge it between uses and it keeps up just fine. My only bit of caution is to be careful because it does tip a bit easier than a normal 4 wheeler. If you’re on the fence about it - just buy it!

Bough the razor for my son, used it very lightly for one summer. Took it out it wasn’t charging so we though it was a battery.. bought new battery.. still not working… ordered new charger .. still not working… when plugged into the power and turned on it says it’s fully charged and on. But when we unplug it it completely shuts off and no lights are on indicating that there’s power . When plugged in, we can move the handle and it makes a clicking noises but that’s about it. Very disappointed as this product isn’t cheap

I bought this for my 4 year old about a year ago and let me tell you this thing has been great. If you want something that’s always going to charge and put a smile on your kids face, get this. This thing is made great especially compared to the competitors at the big box stores with plastic wheels and batteries that need replaced often. It will climb decent hills for kids and does great in grass, dirt and much more. My kids have taken it in water deep enough to submerge the motor on the back along with mud and everything else and it doesn’t miss a beat.
