Priming is not required for most surfaces, when using Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Spray Paint, however, for excellent coverage, the use of a Rust-Oleum primer, such as Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Primer, can be used on surfaces such as bare wood and treated wood or to cover darker colors.

A: Great question, but no, the Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Spray Paint cannot be used on carpet or fabric. It dries to a non-flexible coating that would crack and start to chip and peel as the material flexed.

Good Product / Stay Away from Target in Vauxhall for Pick-ups
I'm rating the experience at 1-star but the paint as a 5-star. The paint worked great and is true to its color. My horrible experience was when I went to the Vauxhall store to pick up my cans of spray paint. First, I was 3rd in line and waited ~20 mins to get to an associate. I tried calling the store from line a few times asking for someone to help the woman behind the counter but all I was able to get was automated prompts (no person ever picked up. After a 20 minute wait, I showed her my pickup bar code and off into the back she went for almost 10 mins. She finally came out with my 2 cans of spray paint and apologized for the delay as she was looking for a black box that had a picture of a spray can on it. She finally realized there was no such box but just the 2 cans of spray paint. You can't make this stuff up! Why she couldn't compare my order # to the order # on the cans was too obvious. When I left, there were 8 people in the pick-up line. Never again at this location.

Good product. A little more blue than I was expecting
The color is a little brighter than I was expecting, but it looks the same as the top of the spray can. There is enough paint to do one coat on a small piece a furniture. I used it on a cabinet that I had already sprayed with primer, and I would say I’m satisfied overall with the product. I would recommend it to others, but I would buy 2 cans unless your project is small.

Two clogged cans in a row
Had to run back to exchange my first can because it wouldn’t spray. Got home and the second can did the same. Don’t buy this stuff.

This is not what we expect to hear! It sounds like the nozzle was clogged. Inside each can of Rust-Oleum Chalked Spray Paint is a dip tube that pulls the paint from the bottom of the can to the tip. If the pigment in the paint is too big or if there's not enough pressure behind it, it can get stuck in the tube or tip and the paint won't spray. Try turning the can upside down and spraying for a few seconds. If the clog is in the tip, soaking it in mineral spirits should clear it out. Make sure each can is being shaken for a full minute before each use as well. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

its the worst spray paint ive ever used it takes 3-4 coats to become opaque (onto something that was not dark) and it does not have a matte creamy finish like other chalk paints

Color great....Cans not so much
Got the blush pink color. The color is perfect. However, I’ve had 3 cans and only 1 worked. The other 2 are broken, even after many attempts to get them working by myself and husband. The one that did work, was great. I’ve already started the project so I hope to return and get functional cans in the same color. Just be aware of this when choosing this paint!

DIY project

I love doing projects with Rust-Oleum Chalked paint because it makes them so easy. The spray paint can is a breeze to use to apply the paint and it dries to a perfect chalked finish. This is my go to product when wanting to give old furniture pieces and updated look.

Great coverage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was genuinely surprised by the great coverage this Chalked Matte paint offers. I used this paint to redo an old bookcase for my sons bedroom. I started by sanding the old book case down a bit, nothing too crazy and I applied the paint in a nice thin layer in our heated garage. This project took two coats, which was pretty expected. I stayed roughly 6-8 inches away from the shelf with the spray can and was able to get a nice smooth finish with no runs. I really like the matte finish on this bookcase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It seems like the worst part of painting is the prep plus all the stuff you need. I got Rust-Oleum Chalked Matte Spray Paint and got my project done in a snap! I had a little wooden stool that I used in the screened porch as a side table. It was looking quite weathered. All I had to do was wipe it clean and spray with the Rust-Oleum chalk paint. I love the finished product. I only went with a single coat because I like the way the natural wood highlighted the finish. No fuss and no mess to clean up. Great product!

I was very impressed with how easy it was to apply and the coverage is good. It is a lot quicker spraying than using a brush. I would highly recommend for any size of project.
