Q: How do I clean this? Are the heating element and oil container removable?

A: Salton compact deep fryer model DF1539 heating element is concealed below the oil reservoir and cannot be removed. The oil reservoir is not removable. The lid is removable. Cleaning instructions include pouring the oil into a wide mouth container. When the base is empty, add 2 cups of warm soapy water. Let stand for a few minutes then wipe with a paper towel. Rinse with 2 cups of clean water. Empty and dry.

A: Hello Motorola, Salton Deep Fryer model DF1539 is compact with a 1-liter oil capacity. Model DF1539 instruction booklet includes recipes for 2 lbs. fish, and 1 lbs. boneless chicken breasts. Both recipes are completed in one session.

Works well. The basket is a bit flimsy with how the handle is a separate piece for shipping/packaging. It’s also a danger to open as it doesn’t allow much steam to escape. When you open it, the steam will burn your hands. Know what you’re up against and it makes a small batch of fries fairly well.

Great little fryer! We use it all the time at my place to fry up small snacks like French fries, samosas and hash browns. If you are looking for a lightweight not too bulky deep fryer this would definitely be worth a try. Doesn't take up much countertop space as well, especially if you live in an apartment.
