Weed control used prior to seeding, such as using the crabgrass preventer, will prevent seed from germinating. Weed control products, like Weed & Feed or liquid weed controls, used on new seedlings will kill seedlings when they first germinate. It can also take 5-12 days for the seeds to germinate. We recommend mowing the grass short and rake or de-thatch the area to remove dead grass and loosen exposed soil prior to applying.
