Q: What is the difference between this version and the non-whitening version, how does it whiten? The ingredients appear to be exactly the same.
A: Dear Aly, Each Sensodyne product is unique and is designed based on consumer insights and preferences to cater to different consumer needs, usage patterns, and regulatory requirements. No two Sensodyne products are the same. Sensodyne ProNamel Intensive Enamel Repair Whitening Toothpaste and Sensodyne ProNamel Intensive Enamel Repair Clean Mint Toothpaste are two different products that differ in their ingredients. The key differences are in the cleansing agents, flavouring components, and quantitative differences in the ingredients used in their formulations. Tooth whitening is achieved by the collection action of different ingredients, including cleansing agents and abrasives (hydrated silica) and surfactants (cocamidopropyl betaine). Hydrated silica is an insoluble material commonly used in toothpastes as a cleaning agent and refers to an entire range of materials that, while chemically identical, can have significantly different physical properties. The ingredients list records a product’s chemical content and does not take these physical differences into account; therefore, all are classified as ‘Hydrated Silica’ and are recorded as a single entry in the ingredient list. Flavours are complex blends of several ingredients (essential oils, natural and/or artificial flavours), which are listed simply as "flavour " on the product pack according to the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI). Each product contains a different flavour profile for further product differentiation. Prior to using a product, we recommend that you always check the list of ingredients printed on the product label, carton, or patient information leaflet and follow the instructions for proper use and storage. If you are unsure whether a product is suitable for you, please consult your dentist or healthcare professional prior to use.
