Sharper Image RC Desert Beast Rider Off-Road Buggy

My son opened this Christmas morning from his grandmother. He had an absolute blast with it for about 25min. It was pretty fast and easy to control on both carpet and tile. After 25min it started to slow waaaaaay down. We said it couldn't be the batteries dying already. We tested the batteries with a battery tester, they were fine. Changed the batteries anyway. Same thing, super slow. It then would no longer turn. Only move forward and backward. At one point the car would continue forward even after my son was no longer operating it. It is now Dec 29th and it still isn't working correctly. I saw alot of 5 star reviews on this car but they all said they were apart of a "promotion" so not sure how accurate they are.
