A: probably depends on how thick your carpet is. we have a pretty flat carpet and it works fine, but we can't get it to drive on the couch, too variable/squishy of a surface i think.

CHRISTMAS HIT
I bought 2 sets of these Sharper Image RC Motor Battles Team Battle Racers to enjoy at our early family Christmas. Our grandchildren, as well as our adult children and their spouses had a fun time playing and racing with them. The wheels are rubber which made the traction on each bumper car easy to maneuver around our vinyl floors as well as the carpet. Each car takes 3 AA batteries and the remotes each take 3 AAA batteries. They do use the batteries but the cars were used, nonstop, for over 3 hours before the batteries needed to be changed in the cars. The remote batteries lasted a little longer. The cars were bigger than I thought they would be which made it nicer for my younger grandkids to play with. Once you get the hang of how the remote works it is a lot of fun! There are 4 colors you can change your car to (red, blue, green & yellow) something that was nice when the kids played as teams. Definitely good when you played separately. When a car was “bumped” a light lit up on the back of the car - you had 3 lives before the car stopped and you were done racing. The cars were durable and the remotes worked several feet away from the cars and the cars were fast. According to the box the cars came in you can play with up to 20 of these cars. Batteries could end up being an issue but I had planned ahead and had plenty. Rechargeable batteries would probably be nice if played more. Overall they were fun to play with and worked as advertised. I would buy again!
