Fits my Grooming needs
The balm is thicket than most, but it isn't a bad thing. The balm still goes on smoothly. I like that it is paraben free and mineral oil free as well. Smells great, and it does help a lot with the fly away hairs to keep the beards stay nice and shaped and groomed.

Would not recommend if sensitive to fragrance
I really wanted to like this - the ingredients look great IMO and the value is amazing. I picked up in store for ~$7.50 with coupon. Even at full price, it has twice as much product as other brands. I smelled it and it seemed very mildly scented, so I had to try it (I am somewhat sensitive to fragrance - however, very hard to find unscented products in store). At first, I was super pleased. This product is very thick, so you take out a small amount and rub in your hands to soften it (one brand I know provides a guitar pick to scoop their product out). It makes my beard feel soft and also provides some hold, which is all I really want. Unfortunately, the fragrance kills this product for me. I applied twice to my wet beard and it has given me headaches both times. Again, the scent is very mild, but persistent. I'll keep the jar open for now (maybe the fragrance will dissipate?) and re-evaluate another time. If you are sensitive to fragrance, I would pass on this. If fragrance never bothers you, then I would absolutely recommend this product.

Consistency Terrible, Waxy Feeling after use
The balm smells fine (not much fragrance) but the consistency is terrible and difficult to massage into one's beard. Whilst the butter helps to shape one's beard the waxy feeling left afterward is quite unpleasant. I would not describe as "smooth" or "smelling great"

Hard as a rock. Overpowering smell. Painful to apply.
My beard is like copper wire. I only get 3-4 shaves from a blade before it's dull. I tried to follow these instructions, but the balm simply will not soften in my hands. When I try to rub the balm in, it's painful because the wax pulls the hair out of my face. (I can rub my beard no problem with bare fingers.) The scent is overpowering, even if I only apply a tiny amount. It's not a bad smell, but WAY too strong to have it all over my beard. The balm comes off on my collar, pillow and everything else. And it's incredibly hard to remove. The manufacturer says this "Absorbs quickly into beard to soften, condition and restore moisture to dry facial hair and skin." None of this was true in my case. All it does is make made my beard stiff, waxy and stinky. Every time I open my mouth, I can feel the stiff wax on my face. At least it fits in my trash bin. Pro tip: Cetaphil is a better option than this balm.

Fantastic product!
The product is really good on many fronts. It helps keep the beard tame and soft. It might take 7 to 10 days for the beard to get soft. I applied it twice a day to the get the results. It doesn’t feel greasy after you apply it, although the balm itself might be a little difficult to apply since it’s not in cream form. This is not overly fragrant, so if you’re looking for a fragrant option look at other options.

Better than S.P. in my opinion
This is my 2nd purchase of the SheaMoisture Men Beard Kit and the product is amazing! I tried the S.P. Beard Kit in between and didn’t get the same/better results so I switched back to SheaMoisture Beard Kit. It leaves my beard super soft and manageable.
