Skippy has been a staple in our family for many years. However, the last couple jars have been am oily mess. I understand that peanut butter can separate, but this is not the case. It's oily and sloppy all the way through. I used to recommend it, not only for sandwiches, but for baking as well. Now, when I make peanut butter cookies with it, they are like flat slabs. Not happy.

"Fully hydrogenated" vegetable oils used in new receipe?

I am no longer seeing "fully hydrogenated" wordings on your label. It only says "hydrogenated" vegetable oils. Please kindly explain.
1 reply from Austin, MN team - 12 days ago
Hi Bobby! The United States has a ban on the use of partially hydrogenated oil (PHO) as a food ingredient. Therefore, when utilizing a hydrogenated oil as an Ingredient in a formula; it is no longer required to call out if it’s fully or partially hydrogenated. Hope this helps!

Last 2 jars have been runny consistency with oil on top!

I have purchased Skippy peanut butter for 40 years, but no more. The last 2 jars of creamy were of runny overall consistency and covered with oil on top. Even after stirring, and storing the peanut butter in a cupboard in my cool kitchen, the oil comes to the top. (My last jar of super chunk had the same problem.) Unable to make a decent sandwich or toast, or otherwise use it in cooking and baking. Incredibly disappointed in the now poor quality of what used to be a dependable and healthy food product.

So sad! Skippy was always the best peanut butter! Sadly, not anymore. Just an oily, runny mess. Almost soupy! So disappointed. I hope this can be addressed.

As many have already pointed out. The new formula is runny, oily, and lacking the rich peanut flavor. Peanut butter is not supposed to be pourable. Looking for a new brand. So disappointed.

I don't know what's going on but this is the second time I've gotten runny peanut butter. I've been using Skippy for 30 years with no problems, now something has changed and for the second jar in a row, it's runny. PLEASE FIX IT. I don't want to look for a new peanut butter.

I am 60 and was raised on Skippy. Like others, I thought the runniness was a fluke but it is not. I can no longer mix honey with Skippy since Skippy is now so runny. I don't like taking a PB&J for lunch because Skippy squeezes out the sides every time I take a bite. Still love the taste but PLEASE, go back to the old recipe before you guys go under. 😥

Change in Consistency

PBJ - 26 days ago
originally posted on http://www.peanutbutter.com
I've been a Skippy PB fan all my life. Always thought it had the best taste. Over at least the last several months, I've noticed (as others have) that the consistency is much more runny than it used to be. Rebought at least 3 containers hoping it was just a temporary thing, but unfortunately they've all been the same. I've moved to another brand. Not for the taste, but it spreads the way Skippy used to.

I was raised in a house with a different brand. I stopped buying it because it was too oily. I liked the consistency of Skippy much better. Over the last several months, I've noticed rhat Skippy is suddenly oilier and runnier than usual. Peanut butter shouldn't separate in the dead of winter. I'll be looking at other brands.

I'm a big fan of Skippy Creamy, but it has to much peanut oil and not enough peanuts. Second time purchase and both were dripping with oil. I'll be in the market for a new brand soon.

My family had always purchased Skippy Creamy. I thought maybe I purchased a bad batch or maybe my house was too warm, but after talking to other friends and family they all said the same about it being too oily and runny. So I decided to investigate whether others had the same impression. Sadly it is your recipe. What a disappointment.

Just keep stirring?

Disappointed - 1 month ago
originally posted on http://www.peanutbutter.com
My peanut butter keeps separating. I don't know why. I have never had to stir in the oil before use in the past. I'm 68 years old and I can't recall ever having a problem with Skippy peanut butter separating into peanut butter topped with a layer of oil. The jar of peanut butter has not been exposed to any unusual conditions or extreme temperatures. I would write it off as a fluke, except this is the second jar in the last 3 months. Seriously, is this the new normal now?

Skimpflation ruined Skippy

Skippy was my go to peanut butter for decades. Not anymore. As others have said, it's now an oily mess. A little research revealed why. They decreased the amount of peanuts and increased the vegetable oil. Decreased quality using cheaper ingredients to increase profit. Disgusting.
