Bad for your health

They add sugar and hydrogenated vegetable oils which are added to most ultra processed "foods". Really bad for your health. Studies have linked both of these ingredients to many ailments and over time, very serious diseases. Find a brand with two ingredients: dry roasted peanuts and salt. If you eat fresh, unprocessed foods, you actually need salt since you're not getting it in all the processed food that it's added to.

Our family has used Skippy for over 60 years. But, the last jar I bought was extremely oily, even though I poured the pooled oil off each time. I thought that maybe it was just a fluke, so I bought another jar… same problem. I guess we'll be looking for another brand.

I've been a diehard Skippy fan that wouldn't eat any other brand my entire life. But that changed when the formula changed leaving the peanut butter oily and taseless.

I used to use it in cooking and for snacks. Now it has become too oily/runny for cooking and snacking. In the market for a new peanut butter after eating for 68 years.

After a lifetime of buying and enjoying Skippy Creamy peanut butter, I am thoroughly dismayed at the change in consistency of the product. I have stirred it multiple times and store it upside down and it is still an oily mess. Is this going to be the new Skippy Creamy in the future. I have two large jars of this and they are both the same.

Price was great, so I got 4 jars. Quality was very poor. At least 1/4 cup oil on top, Bottom of jar very dry and under-ground. Am using, but wont buy again. Don't like the change in recipe. Better options available.

Too oily

Concerned customer - 1 month ago
originally posted on http://www.peanutbutter.com
Been using this peanut butter for 50+ years always been my favorite and a dedicated customer of Skippy peanut butter. The last couple of jars I have had are so oily but I can't even use them or eat them they're terrible. They said they haven't changed the recipe but I find that hard to believe under the circumstances. Somethings going on. Are used to have it on my toast every morning and I've quit eating peanut butter because of this

This is my first jar of Skippy that's separated and oily, even though I stored it in a cool room. Did the formula change? I recently had a squeezable pouch that was perfect, so maybe I need to change to that packaging.

Disappointed - 2 months ago
originally posted on http://www.peanutbutter.com
I will echo the reviews/complaints that have been posted here regarding the change in consistency of the Skippy Smooth Peanut Butter. For the last 6 months or so, I have noticed that the consistency is much looser, oilier and often requires stirring. Not a fan. If this change is deliberate, then I guess after 60+ years of eating Skippy Peanut Butter I will have to find a new brand.

Runny oily peanut butter, what's going on!

I have been using Skippy creamy butter for over 40 years. The last few batches have been so oily and runny, I was wondering if I bought a bad batch, but the next couple jars were the same. Now I see many more complaints and it is quite disappointing that Skippy has no idea why! Something must have changed, Please bring back the old recipe back or we will be switching brands!

The flavor is okay but the consistency is a terrible oily mess. I used to enjoy the thick spreadable consistency. I could lay a nice thick layer on a soft slice of white bread, but no longer. Peanut butter sandwiches are now a gooey slimy mess. Sorry but Hormel has messed up this time.

Have you used your product for 40 years. The last 2 jars have been runny and oily. You say in comments that your recipe has not changed, yet all the comments are the same and we are all experiencing the same. The internet is also saying the same thing and you seem to dismiss this trend.

Skippy has been a staple in our family for many years. However, the last couple jars have been am oily mess. I understand that peanut butter can separate, but this is not the case. It's oily and sloppy all the way through. I used to recommend it, not only for sandwiches, but for baking as well. Now, when I make peanut butter cookies with it, they are like flat slabs. Not happy.

"Fully hydrogenated" vegetable oils used in new receipe?

3 out of 5 stars
Bobby - 2 months ago
originally posted on http://www.peanutbutter.com
I am no longer seeing "fully hydrogenated" wordings on your label. It only says "hydrogenated" vegetable oils. Please kindly explain.
1 reply from Austin, MN team - 2 months ago
Hi Bobby! The United States has a ban on the use of partially hydrogenated oil (PHO) as a food ingredient. Therefore, when utilizing a hydrogenated oil as an Ingredient in a formula; it is no longer required to call out if it’s fully or partially hydrogenated. Hope this helps!

Last 2 jars have been runny consistency with oil on top!

1 out of 5 stars
Lexi - 2 months ago
originally posted on http://www.peanutbutter.com
I have purchased Skippy peanut butter for 40 years, but no more. The last 2 jars of creamy were of runny overall consistency and covered with oil on top. Even after stirring, and storing the peanut butter in a cupboard in my cool kitchen, the oil comes to the top. (My last jar of super chunk had the same problem.) Unable to make a decent sandwich or toast, or otherwise use it in cooking and baking. Incredibly disappointed in the now poor quality of what used to be a dependable and healthy food product.
