Sony ULT TOWER 10 Party Speaker - SRSULT1000 (Black)

This speaker is an absolute monster. I have not turned the volume up yet over 70% as it rattles my windows. Brilliant sound the lighting system is top notch. The microphone that comes with it is absolutely brilliant I would definitely recommend

It’s always best to have it in ULT Mode as it gives better base quality and overall better sound quality, the microphone is very good. I enjoy doing a bit of karaoke with it, not only that but the speaker is excellent for having an electric guitar connected up to it overall I’m very impressed with this speaker and 100% recommend it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First impressions are “WOW!”: It’s huge.. and heavy, at just under 30Kg, could actually work indoors, in a large room, as it’s a nice piece of furniture, for a cinema night in. But you’ll never feel it’s potential if that’s where you leave it. Mine now sits in my garage next to a power extension lead ready to extend out to the garden – the power lead provided will never suffice. It looks great: all matt black plastic, with two small wheels (they could be larger really) to aid moving around; you’ll be thankful for the styled halo around the top to hold onto as you position it outside in a large space and enjoy this as it must be. You may want to get some help carrying it over grass or a gravel drive. It’s loud, really loud, but also very clear across all frequencies, with two tweeters, two midrange tweeters and a woofer to seriously impress, enhanced with the two UTL deep bass options. There are party lights top and bottom, and even a surprisingly effective karaoke / DJ microphone. No Wi-Fi connectivity, but it has Bluetooth 5.2, and a hidden rear compartment near the top with three inputs for an optical connector (with 3m cable included), USB and an audio jack. To get things started, install the Sony Music Centre app on a mobile device. I had no problems connecting and find the app is the best way to start it up as opening Bluetooth setting just takes you to the app regardless. You can decide to keep the Bluetooth on standby so that as long as the speaker is powered you can connect. There are other Power options found in Settings, which itself is located at the bottom of a list of items under the picture of the speaker, starting with “My library”, then significantly Fiestable, then the input options and then the any music apps you have installed on your device. Also under Settings are Sound, Illumination, System and Management of Bluetooth. The Sound option provides two ULT bass / power options and a custom, which in turn enables a customisation equaliser if you prefer. You can boost the TV sound via the optical cable, along with an option to prioritise Bluetooth quality or connection (supporting LDAC). Another useful setting is the illumination, which has five different lighting options – but if you install the Sony app Fiestable, you can start this app within the list and play with a multitude of lighting / DJ settings. Try the Bluetooth Audio at the bottom of the app list – volume can be increased more incrementally this way compared with most volume controls on a device. The control panel is illuminated and consists of a power button, the ULT button, the usual playback controls, Bluetooth pairing, volume, light functions, echo and DJ functions, all worth a try. It is water resistant, so great to place a drink, but also handy for a mobile device, which can charge from the USB port at the rear. The microphone is a real surprise in how good it is. Only requiring two AA batteries (included), it pairs seamlessly with the speaker, and has been given a place either side of it in the form of two retractable mic holders. You won’t put it down though, it’s a lot of fun. The app, Fiestable and the control panel have a selection of Karaoke / DJ settings you can use. Even though this is clearly not a stereo speaker, you can pair it with another ULT 10 for that effect, but the app also allows grouping with other compatible Sony speakers, and although it might take 50 seconds or so to establish the connection, the results can be very impressive, given a large open space and a lot of friends. This is a beast of a sound machine, music you can really feel as well as hear. I’ve tried all different types of music, including some big movie soundtracks: the clarity and power never really disappoints. But it’s for those that have the space, no worries about annoying any neighbours, and plenty friends that enjoy karaoke.

What also may impress is the list of functions available: Press the ULT button once, you have Deep Bass adding depth. Press twice you get Attack bass creating surging sound You get sound everywhere with its 360 degree Party Sound. LED lights surround the top and bottom of the ULT Tower 10 syncing to the music Connection is very simple due to Bluetooth Fast Pair, one tap and you’re connected! Download the Sony Music Centre app opens up a world of music and lights options. A high quality wireless microphone is included, Karaoke, DJ or playing the guitar you have connected, the options are endless! ULT Tower 10 can integrate with almost any TV’s enhancing its sound. All this may impress but the most impressive thing is: Made by Sony.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A really powerful speaker with great lighting effects. The only issue I noticed was that it is a magnet for dust, especially the gloss touch control panel which is a fingerprint lover with smear marks after a few touches. Microphone was used but only for a few minutes and is really quite good. I didn't use the guitar function but it looks like a random thing for a Bluetooth speaker to have. It has wheels fitted to ease moving it but they aren't big so they can get stopped easily even on small bits of debris. All in all it is a very powerful speaker with tons of potential.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] ULT Tower 10 Unpacking Firstly, I’m sure anyone who buys this speaker will know how big it is, but it’s still surprising when you see it. The packaging is simple and robust but be warned, it may take 2 people to unpack it. Setup Setup is very straightforward. Basically you just need to connect via Bluetooth. Basic input, volume, and transport controls are on the top panel which also includes controls to customise the lighting effects. By installing the Sony Music Center app, you get more customization options. Behind a flap on the top panel is the microphone/guitar input. Included are EU and UK power cables, optical cable, microphone (for Karaoke function) and setup instructrions. Sound I have to be honest here and admit that I was not expecting sonic excellence from a ‘Party’ speaker but it is actually very competent indeed. Tonal balance is really very good and remains so up to rather high volume levels (and they really are high). I listened to a variety of music all streamed via Bluetooth from my iPhone and was also somewhat surprised by what an enjoyable speaker it really is. Nothing was or gained or lost via optical input and again the speaker put in a very good performance with no harshness or listener fatigue. I tested in a room that was 15’ by 25’ feet and in that room I found the ULT function a bit overblown for my personal taste, but I can imagine outside, or in a large room, or if you just like lots of bass, it works well. Certainly it didn’t seem to introduce any distortion. Conclusion Its possibly a niche product but is extraordinarily well executed. Build quality is excellent with no signs that it struggles delivery high volumes, and to be honest, a lot of fun.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a truly fabulous party speaker which is ideal for bringing parties alive. I have previously had a Sony MHC-V72D, which I thought was excellent, but this takes things to a new level. The sounds is amazing and I think you could probably break the windows if you took it up to anywhere near the top volume levels. The lights are fantastic and illuminate any room they are in. The system comes with an exellent quality wireless microphone which makes it ideal as the centrepiece for a karaoke evening, with a handy slot on top for your tablet to sit to display the words. We tried this system out at a 50th birthday party, and it brought the event to life and provided great fun for all there. Everyone was amazed at the system and thought it must have been a hired professional unit. The system is easy to set-up and use and, whilst seriously big, is not unattractive and currently sits in our dining room in a corner, with a plant on top. It is certainly less "speaker looking" than the MHC-V72D. If you can cope with the size (which took my breath away when it arrived), and regularly hold/attend parties looking for some seriously quality sound / karaoke, then look no further.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a serious piece of kit. It is very large and heavy, but delivers an unbelievable sound. The bass really hits you hard, and you can enhance the bass further using the ULT button. Treble and mid range are also extremely clear. The lights add another dimension, particularly at night. Downloading the Sony Music Centre App and the Fiestable App allows you to link to other music sources, and to control lights and act as DJ or use as Karaoke. The lyrics of the song appear on your phone/tablet making singing along very easy with the supplied wireless microphone. It was easy to set up, and I linked it to my phone using bluetooth very easily. It was also easy to link to my TV using the optical cable supplied, and playing You Tube videos on the TV with sound through the speaker was like being at a live concert. The only downside is the size, but I guess that is necessary to get the quality sound output.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow, this is extremely large in every dimension. From size, weight, to sound output and the bass is incredible. This is not for the faint hearted and maybe you should warn your neighbours if you are going to turn this monster up. I wouldn’t describe myself as a ‘Technophobe’, but I am probably one of the more senior owners of this speaker. The set up. Is very easy indeed, plug in and turn on the speaker. It actively searches for Bluetooth pairing. I connected it to my phone without a hitch and had music playing in seconds. You can wheel it about easily and use in a few different places, even outside. Bear in mind this speaker weighs 64 lbs. Connection. Play/Sound is excellent with the TV and very easy to connect with the optical cable provided. Put the batteries (supplied) into the microphone turn it on and away you go. The Bass is very powerful, if you stand close enough it moves clothing. The bass ult button on top improves the level of bass. It is like going to a concert - you can really feel it in your chest. The lights are good and if you get the Sony Music Centre app for your phone you can change the lights functions. The sound reproduction is very good and press that ULT button for the bass you will be impressed. It's big and pretty expensive, but worth it for the massive sound and ease of use, definitely recommend this beast. Moans, and they are minor. The power lead is too short and should be at least a couple of meters long maybe three. FAR too much polystyrene used for packaging, very disappointing. And neighbours are no longer talking to us.
