Good stand-alone system.
This was purchased as a stand-alone music system to carry in my Landrover and connect to an iphone. Battery life is excellent and well within the stated time, sound quality is first class but needs to be in the open air for maximum effect - it does sound good from inside but tends to be a bit "boomy". The party lights personally are an unneccessary feature but I'm sure many will love them !!! Overall a good quality item.

Booming Bass in your face!
This speaker grabs the attention of anyone within earshot. The booming bass is exactly what people are looking for. The build is quality as you would expect from Sony. Been using it outside for a couple of weeks this winter, and it handles the mud and rain well. Perfect addition to anyone-working-on-site's toolbox.

Party mode these speakers with tower speakers!!!
I bought two of these to enhance the room sound by partying them with my two tower speakers. The sound is just amazing. Such a wise move. They can also be used in the garden separately from my tower speakers.

It's ok
The first one I no ght had a fault. Part of the right hand side of the speaker had become detached. I returned it and bought a replacement. I like the look of it. The lights are a nice addition. The sound is fairly good but not mind blowing. As others say it's probably suited and designed (the name goes it away) more for outdoor use.

Sony Ult 5 follows in the footsteps after Ult 3. There really is way more Fuller and inriched sound. Again if your able track 2nd one. And pair them up. In to stereo sound you really will be blown away. These are now used in movie room. I have them. In the summer days. I love the portability. No cables and mess. Turn on. Pair your Bluetooth device and away you go. It's that simple. The battery life is great. They sound amazing. Solid construction. Look great. I like line in inout. Where it will switch line from Bluetooth. Just unplug for Bluetooth connection mode. Ult button is like the loudness button. Boosts all frequencies. I always have type c cable and fast charger to hand. Just in case. Also the Sony sound app is great touch. Update firmware and create your own EQ. Highly recommend them. Well worth the money. Happy So Far
I bought this on 30 Nov for Xmas and it is working well after 2 days, although was slightly bigger than expected. But it is a step up from the Bose Sound Link 3 that it is replacing. albeit not as conveniently sized. I think I did prefer the Bose for convenience and adequate quality - but let's see how we get on with the ULT Field over time :)

A great speaker
I purchased the Sony ULT Field 5 and I am really impressed with the sound quality. It looks great and is simple to set up & use. friends and family have all commented on how good it sounds / looks with the light effect.

Great build quality.
We purchased this Sony Field ULT 5 speaker for our daughter. Knowing the high quality sound & build quality already owning a Sony Field ULT 7 speaker myself I knew exactly how good these speakers really are. Heavy, built to last & capable of taking the occasional knock also IP67 rated making this speaker water & dust resistant ideal for indoor or outdoor use. A supplied shoulder strap is also a welcome addition, not forgetting up to 30 hours of playback. Sound quality is punchy, crisp & loud. Bluetooth connection is straight forward & when using the Sony Connect App offers more control over the sound output tailoring the sound to your liking. Overall this speaker offers years of great entertainment.
