Splenda Zero Calorie Granulated Sweetener, 9.7oz Resealable Pouch

Splenda is great, works as a good sugar substitute in many things, especially beverages. But I wanted to give others a heads up. The seal on these bags isn't what it used to be, we seemed to have gone from Ziploc quality down to generic so the seal works sometimes, but not always. For instance, the current bag I have seals very well, the last two wouldn't stay properly closed. So just be aware of it. After opening the bag and pouring some into a ceramic sugar container I keep on the kitchen counter, I now place the Splenda bag in a real Ziploc bag before storing in the pantry, just avoid the potential for it spilling everywhere in case I have one of the bags with a poor seal.

Lol He was leary about switching over as most sweeteners cause a headache. He was very impressed and said he couldn't taste a difference. And will not switch back to regular sugar now. He can even have pies again as he uses Splenda in the pies in place of.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I often expect sugar substitutes to be sweeter, ounce for ounce, than real sugar. Splenda is an exception to this expectation. It does advertise that it measures just like sugar, and I found this to be the case. It also advertises that it tastes like sugar, and I have to take exception to that claim. In my experience, the only sweetener that tastes like sugar is sugar. I find that Splenda's taste is a bit blander than real sugar. It doesn't tickle your tongue in the same way. Having said that, it advertises as a zero calorie sweetener, and that fact alone makes this product worthwhile to me. From a packaging standpoint, I must say that the bag didn't really open properly at the "tear here" spot, but some scissors would easily correct this issue. I do appreciate the resealable aspect of the bag. All in all, I find this product to be pretty much exactly what I expected.

I have been using this as a sugar substitute for the past couple of weeks in my coffee and it adds just the right amount of sweetness without the sugar. I have tried other Sweeteners in the paste and they caused me extreme headaches. I have not found this to be the case with Splenda. Can’t wait to bake with Splenda!

We also use it in our cereal and oatmeal. I am looking forward to baking with it since the measurements are the same. There is no aftertaste and we can't even tell we are using a sugar substitute. I had always purchased the individual packets to use in drinks or to sprinkle as a topping. Just recently, I have been trying new recipies that call for sugar substitutes and was excited to see Splenda in a pouch! I love how it is easy to use and to store. The zipper closure will keep the Splenda fresh in the cabinet. This measures equally to sugar, so, there is no need to convert or calculate how much you would need for your recipe. The bag also has a few nice recipes printed on the back (I’m not certain if they are the same on every pouch or not) which is a nice addition. Overall a great product and highly recommended!

After baking my homemade apple pie, I was floored at how great tasting my pie turned out. The recipe called for 1 cup of sugar and I used one cup of Splenda as described on the package (1:1 ratio). Now I will use this for all my baking.
