[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of my favorite ground coffee roast to make for my morning coffee. I have this daily, with milk and creamer. It has a strong flavor and so smooth. This is also one of the roasts that Starbucks uses for their espresso and I love all the espresso drink. This makes the perfect latte.

It's horrible. I drink just the shots. Compared to local options. It's not even close.

Not for Espresso

I am not an aficionado. I do not have a grinder. I am a Starbucks fan. When I recently went back to making my own espresso, I finished off the Starbucks Espresso Roast ground coffee I had. When I bought more - Espresso Roast ground, I quickly discovered this grind is for coffee not espresso. I find the label "GROUND" deceptive but really I am upset I have a relatively expensive bag of coffee I can't use and I apparently can't buy the coffee I need.

Not an espresso grind

This is not an espresso grind its much too coarse. Taste profile is decent but why not just grind it to the appropriate espresso fineness if you’re going to label it espresso?
Good flavor, but gives me headaches

I really like the intense flavor of this, but I noticed that I was getting bad headaches after drinking it. So I switched to another flavor, headaches gone. Then I recently bought Espresso again and the headaches came back. So, I’ve stopped buying it. Now i buy Sumatra; no headaches. P.s. when I get an Americano and Espresso Macchiato in the store, I don’t get any headaches. Only from this at-home bag. I don’t know what is in this to cause headaches.

As an espresso drinker and spending much time in Italy I find this to be a totally American roast. Bold and like drinking campfire smoke. a bit on the bitter side for me. espresso is not a roast but the method of extraction. Any roast can be used for espresso. all in what you like. If you like it than go for it. takes a lot of steamed milk to tame it down. too much on the French roast level for me. works well for a French press or pour over. cowboy coffee for sure.

Her family’s favorite coffee Bean. It does not have the bite that a lot of other Starbucks coffee beans have. And it makes wonderful espresso shots, lattes, cappuccinos and americana’s. It also makes a great regular cup of Joe!

An espresso roast ground course enough for pour overs and drip. Illy and Lavazza are excellent but the pre-ground is too fine and meant for esspresso machines. This Starbucks espresso is courser, so I can make it with a regular coffee machine. When the grounds are powder-fine then they clog a #4 paper filter. This out of the bag is okay to use with a #4 cone paper filter. I like that it's vacuum packed, and has a long shelf life. When I make it, I don't use fully boiling water. I let filtered boiled water cool a bit.
Bold, dark, and strong.

Fresh beans that grind well. Bold dark flavor. I love strong coffee and this delivers. I have tried other types of coffee and I keep coming back to this one.

First bag I bought was fine, I didn’t have too many issues besides it did taste a little burnt. The second bag, however, was god awful. It smelt and tasted absolutely disgusting. Espresso is supposed to be ground differently than this, however, in my espresso maker this worked fine in that area. My concern overall is the lack of consistency between bags and with that, unfortunately, I will be looking elsewhere for my espresso roast.
