Best multi purpose cooker. I use it to slow cook.

Here's a more concise version: I use it as a slow cooker. First, I hard-boil the meat separately. Then, add meat, root vegetables, onions, and corn to the pot, and slow-cook for 12 hours. In the morning, I mix the cooked items and soup with oatmeal. It takes 3 minutes for a healthy breakfast. Add a hard-boiled egg if desired. This nutritious meal is perfect for busy mornings and reduces preparation time. We do this twice a week, making it my easiest school-day breakfast. If babies can have oatmeal with meat, enjoy too a savory oatmeal with ingredients from this amazing Staub multipurpose cooker

My learning curve was a little high because I found the instructions light on information, but what a great addition to my kitchen.

A induction hop that looks great

This induction cooker gave me a wow when I unboxed it. I love the precise temperature control which is not common feature for induction cookers in the market, though it comes at a price. The functionality of this induction heater is designed for use with Staub cast iron oven. The preset functions are braise, slow cook, stream, keep warm and browning, all that you want to do with the cocottes. However, I do have a question about the slow cook preset. There are only High and Low setting for this preset. I read through the manual and did not see any instructions on when I should use the which setting for slow cooking.

Induction cooking takes a little getting used to, it can get very hot very quick! Slow cooking is my intended primary use. As such, I wish there was some kind of a top adapter that could be adjusted to fit a wide variety of cast iron pots.

Difficult to regulate temperature. No simmer and will not maintain an even boil for making soup. Instructions and online video for operating are no easy to follow. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to trying induction cooking.

Thank you for your review and for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your experience. Our Precision Induction Multi Cooker operates very well manually, by controlling the temperature and time settings for precise results. To simmer use the temperature icon to select your desired temperature. Adjust using the “+” or “–” icons. The lowest setting starts at 104°F, giving you total control to simmer, in addition to setting you timer, use the “+” or “–” icons to set your desired cooking time. We hope this helps! If you have any other questions about using your Multi Cooker, please feel free to contact our Support Center. Loving Induction!

I decided to really put it to the test with a slow cooker short ribs recipe. I used the browning feature first. Heats up very fast and browns really quickly. Switched to the saute function to cook down my onions and peppers. The unit performed admirably. Now to the slow cooker. The unit worked as I would have expected. One pot, all three functions! Living induction cooking!

We tried out our new cooker with our existing 5.5 Qt Dutch oven. The browning feature worked wonderfully, coming up to temperature very quickly and browning the mean and sweating the onions very rapidly. I then shifted to slow cooking which I found to actually be lower temperature than was expected and had to move to the high level of slow cooking to get it close to a simmer. It is nice to have the two settings, as I am finding that the lower temperature is lower than what I expect which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. It would be nice if you could adjust these two settings to match your Dutch oven size, as the smaller it is, the harder it will be to get it up and maintain the temp during the cook. (I did get and use the smaller ring to match my oven size.)

Great Concept, Works Well, Needs Improvement

I’ve only used it once so far, to make chicken cacciatore on the braise setting. I used the browning setting to prep the chicken and vegetables and start the sauce and then put it on braise for 40 minutes. When I lifted the lid, the sauce was bubbling furiously, which is too hot for a braise. However, the dish was absolutely delicious and the chicken was perfect, not overcooked. There was some burnt sauce at the bottom and it took a good soak and then some baking soda to finally get the bottom of the dutch oven clean. The reason I’m only giving it 4 stars at this point is that the instructions that came with the cooker are very inadequate and with the print so small on a dark background I am not sure I’m reading it correctly. I wanted to download a user manual so that I could read it in a larger size, but could not find one. Is there one? I would also like to get some sample recipes to get a better sense of how to use the cooker. For example, can the temperature on the braise setting be changed? How does one use the manual temp control? The cooker itself is beautifully designed. Looks great. I like that the control panel can be hidden during use and storage. I did find the touch buttons difficult to activate. The on/off button is difficult to engage. I had to hold the control panel with one hand underneath and use a finger on my other other to get enough pressure to actually turn it on and off.

I am so impressed! I use my crock pot often and this is a great substitute, using the induction burner and my Staub 5-quart dutch oven. My first test was with white chicken chili. It turned out beautifully. We had a house full for the game and I loved that I could flip it over to warm and keep it ready to go. It was the conversation piece all night! The control panel is sleek and slides in and out for easy use. You can also braise or steam, and even control the temperature specific to your recipe. The actual induction burner is small, so it's perfect for the table or a buffet. I feel like I have multiple items all in one place. What a great concept!

This is best induction hob I’ve used. Very powerful. While designed for Staub cocottes , you could put any induction compatible cookware on the base. There is a learning curve with temps as you can set it manually, or use the pre settings. Be sure to be patient and allow to preheat. Read the directions. I’ve used it to make French onion soup, and coq au vin. Even heated my milk for hot chocolate in a stainless steel pot on it. Its powerful and features of Staub ensure a perfect cook. PS : I can totally see taking this on a RV trip or place where need a kitchen boost/ upgrade

WOW just WOW! Just received my Staub Multi Cooker. Super impressed. I've used it twice, once to make a beef stew recipe and second used just the base to cook pork chops. The beef stew came out delicious, loved that I could brown and then slow cook in the same pot. I followed the directions and ensured that the preheat completed before adding my browned meat back in to slow cook, absolute perfection! I then used the base only to cook pork chops, I loved that I could adjust the temperature to suit my needs. An awesome product! Can't wait to keep cooking! Way to go Staub...
