To clean the top of the lid we would suggest sprinkling it with baking soda to get into the areas that are hard to reach and then placing in a bowl while pouring a little white vinegar over it. The foaming action will help loosen any build up. Let sit for a while or overnight and use the small brush or toothpick to reach the tight areas.
