Q: When I turned new calulator on for first time the display screen showed "RAM CLEARED". Is that normal on first turn on of a new TI-84 Plus CE?

I just picked it up hours ago from Target store. Came home to unpack and put it to charging before first time use. Screen flashes saying validating OS calculator will start once software is validated. But nothing happens I want to return it.

If I could give this zero stars I would. Opened today as my son was getting ready to start Hs tomorrow. Plugged it in and it’s started glitching and validating OS on loop. Left plugged in for an hour. Nothing changed. Will be returning.

My kid's teacher strongly recommended this calculator for their AP calculus class. So we bought it. But, it's expensive! Plus, the teacher needed to spend a full lesson on how to use it. Hopefully, my kid will get more than one year's use out of it!

Loved this calculator but 8 months in it stopped working. Screen is constantly flashing a “validating”. screen and no longer charging. Haven’t found a solution yet. Apparently it’s a common TI issue. Waste of 119 bucks👎🏼.

My daughter's high school required all students to have a graphing calculator. So we purchased this piece of crap. Opened the packaging and plugged in to charge. Kept getting a Validating Operating System message. Googled how to fix but none of the solutions worked. Will return for a refund.

I’ve owned one before & it was a well working calculator. This time that I purchased I would get a “Validation OS” error screen. Had to buy a new battery on Amazon for it to work. I don’t believe this is a Target issue but more of a Texas Instrument issue.

Had to return the calculator bc it flashes the “validating os” screen and won’t go beyond that. Exchanged it for a new one and the same thing is happening. Only solution is to get a new battery. But it’s brand new!!!! Will have to exchange for a 3rd calculator bc I need it now for class!! From what I’ve read online TI has a faulty battery.

1. It's 2024 and this item ships with a mini USB connector to charge it. Like 10 years ago MINI USB. It's absolutely absurd that they haven't updated this to USB-C yet. 2. The calculator has a defective battery upon opening the package. When you plug it into the charger it goes into a "Validating OS..." bootloop that according to TI is due to a old/dead/defective battery. There is no way to resolve this bootloop without replacing the battery. I don't recommend this item at all, but that's difficult to say as many schools require it so I guess we're up a creek.
