Great Book - 10 months ago
“Unlearning: Leading Change without Resistance” by Doug Krug & Christine Kahane is my new favorite book on Leading Change. I have known, learned and improved my federal health program leadership based on Doug’s books, classes and consulting for over 30 years. Their core concepts of Awareness, Mindfulness and Presence, require us to unwind many of our old rules, views and belief systems– or unlearn, so we can grow into new ways of being. I most definitely became a better person and a more effective leader for it. Just a few key lessons I cherish from Christine and Doug, that you will come to value are: 1. Shift the focus from what’s wrong to what’s right. What we can do more of, or better, to keep things working? 2. It's far better to get it right than to be right. 3. Create shared remembering of what came from within staff, rather than trying to teach them. 4. The answers are always in the room, you just have to ask the right questions.
