I got this case today and I am beyond confused. I have several other VC cases and they aren’t like this at all. The ones I have been purchasing from the VC website and Amazon have a two layer type of mechanism. It is a velvet covered matted rubber with a glossy plastic over it. This is my first purchase from target and I see that it is a flexible, glossy rubber and one layer. I tried to check their website to see if there are different types of cases they offer, but I’m not finding anything that suggests that. It also came in different packaging which leaves the case extremely exposed, to the point that it would be very easy for people to steal. Over all this is a pretty case and it claims to still be 10 foot drop proof and that there is a 2.5 mm bumper. I’m just scared it’s not going to offer the same protection and or not hold up as well.

It’s a really cute design - I opted for white because the black was out of stock. Unfortunately within 2 weeks the white around the edges started to fade and the back of the case is scuffed up. I’m not hard on my phone at all - it lays on my nightstand or table to charge and if it’s not in my hand, it’s in my purse. For $39.99 I expected the quality to be better than this. Because of the fading and scuff marks, I’ll be replacing this case soon and will likely not purchase from this company again.

I’m not gonna lie, I was only planning on buying this to use until my more expensive case came in from a brand that I order from online. However, this one feels so much more substantial! The colors are actually really pretty in person and goes perfectly with the desert titanium on my iPhone 16 Pro. Also, the checkered pattern is a mix of shiny and matte so all the squares have a different texture depending on their color which is actually nice and provides better grip. And I’m sorry if I’m late to the game y’all but I guess the name Velvet Caviar refers to the fact that there’s a velvet like texture on the inside which I feel like is also really protective for the glass back on these phones. This case has a much higher bevel around the screen than my other cases which provides better screen protection in the event of a fall. So yeah, would recommend!
