That large yellow pad on the trap seems pointless. I've tried the trap multiple times coating the yellow pad with peanut butter or honey and somehow the mice seem able to lick it off without triggering the trap.

Agreed. The trap isn’t adjustable with the sensitivity. It’s hard to snap and mice are generally pretty small so this was a waste of money. The mouse are the food and went away. Now I gotta try poison. Sucks but I don’t know what else to do.

I set it on the firm setting, not sensitive. They traps will go off to easy & then the mouse can lick all the peanut butter off after it goes off. If you set it up to firm the mouse has to put a paw on it to get to it more & then it gets them. We’ve used these with great success for years in our garage. We caught a mouse today behind our oven in the house with this. Just put the peanut butter in the little well not heaping over it or all over the pad of it. Every once in awhile it may not catch something, but we’ve gone through so many of these in the 7 yrs we live in our home. Once it catches a mouse we throw the whole thing out. I don’t want to reuse them. Our first year at our home we got almost 9 mice in the winter in the garage. We live in the county so even filling holes as we find them mice find a way in the cold months, to get in the garage. Last year we didn’t have one at all. When our indoor cats alert is to sounds in the house we set these up where the cats can’t get them & snap! Dead mouse by morning! You just have to set them up right. It’s all in the prep. Practice makes perfect. We’ve had good luck with peanut butter or any chocolate spread like Nutella.

I noticed a mouse in my kitchen about 2 weeks ago. I guess the mouse needed a warm place for the winter and got into my house. I bought 2 packs of these on 11/30/24. I checked out at 1:09pm according to my receipt. Got home around 2pm. I put them out and caught the mouse before 4:30pm the same day. No complaints from me.

Worked perfectly, would share photos but there was a bit of blood and it would be considered graphic. Worked great. Husband thought I was being dramatic setting out 4 traps when we only saw one mouse. 4 dead mice later and I'm setting them again.
Effective when used correctly

I’m 3 for 3 between yesterday and today. Poor little guys. I noticed a lot of reviews complained that mice were able to lick off the bait (usually peanut butter) and leave unscathed. That’s because either 1) the yellow flap was set too high, 2) the bait wasn’t placed at the very top of the yellow flap so the mouse was able to avoid to stepping on it, and/or 3) the traps weren’t positioned well. If the yellow flap is against a wall, the mouse can lick the bait from the side and has no need to step on the yellow flap, thus the trap won’t be triggered. Another alternative to mice in the house - get a cat! I miss ours; she could catch everything.

Leaves mice alive w/broken necks. Don't buy these unless you want to have to kill them by hand afterwards.

I bought 2 packs (4 traps) and used a smidge of peanut butter for bait. The mouse in my car was caught within 20 minutes! The traps were easier to set than I thought they'd be.

Thank you for this feedback. We're sorry to hear that this is happening to your traps. They have both a Firm and Sensitive setting. If it is triggering easily, we recommend setting the trap towards the Firm side.

Spend a little more and get something better. One trap in the 2-pack was faulty and would NOT stay loaded, no matter how carefully I tried to set it. Snapped my fingers about five times, got fed up and threw it away.

Just feeding the mice - 6 months ago, Verified purchaser
Set up 6 traps. All of the peanut butter bait was licked clean and none of the traps were set off.
1 reply from Woodstream Team team - 6 months ago
We are sorry to hear this! If you test the trap (carefully!) with a pencil or something similar, does it trip properly? If it does, try baiting the trap using only a small amount of peanut butter (just what fits on the end of a toothpick). By using a smaller amount, the mice are less likely to be able to quickly grab the bait and run without setting off the trap. If you continue to be unhappy with your results, please feel free to contact the original retailer for assistance with a refund.

These seem to be sturdier than the regular Victor traps. I followed the instructions for the sensitive setting (and used gloves). Within 2 hrs mickey had met his demise. A dab of peanut butter did the trick.
