A: They are not in the category of quiet or whisper quiet. Metal fans inherently have more noise than plastic ones. Though it's not a harsh sound.

Q: Are the grates easily removable for cleaning? We have a plastic version of this that (while really moves some air!) collects quite a bit of dust that is really hard to clean out.

I like it.
I have one in my house and this one was for my daughter house. I think it makes a bit more noise than the old one I have.

Not For Humid Climate
This fan has been running almost non stop since July 2021 and still works great! Unfortunately, the interior housing has rusted out. We have never used water or any liquids to clean it, only paper towels and a vacuum. We live in a humid climate which must be why this has happened. We would not recommend this fan for a humid climate

The most reliable fan I have ever used
I don’t even know how old my vornado fan is, my father has owned it for a long while before giving it to me about 3 years ago. I have used it every night since and it has never malfunctioned, made a strange sound, or ever become less effective. Despite being fairly small compared to some other fans on the market, it makes my room cold very quickly. The fan is also much quieter and more pleasant sounding than any other fan in my house.

Great fan with some small issues
Quiet, stylish and cools quite well for its size. My only complaint is the rubber grommets on the base broke off after a week of use. And there is apparently no way to replace them. So the fan currently wobbles :(

Looks Cool, Would NEVER Buy Again
IMPOSSIBLE to clean. Purchased the correct tools, spent forever angling them the right way to get the screws out, and cleaned the entire fan (yes, blades are plastic). I spent a couple of hours trying to line everything up right to get it reassembled and can't do it. It already had the chirping noises and weak air others mentioned. But, this is too much and now I'm ready to pitch it in the garbage. Waste of money.

Beautiful and functional
This fan is solid, a great design, and works great. The low level is super low- so quiet you can barely hear it, but it does move air. This is a serious design upgrade from the fan we were using before; it truly elevates the look of our bedroom.

Great looking fan.
I did comparisons for a number of fans before choosing this one. It’s beautiful and appears to be well made. It is the vintage one. Not the junior version. It does not move as much air as I thought it would. I have another Vornado fan that moves more air. I wish I would have purchased a second one.

Retro air circulator
I absolutely love Vornado!! From the gorgeous, retro, sleek design that fits perfectly in my mid century living room, to the quietness. Not to mention the way that it works so much better than a regular, ol’ fan! I now have one in each bedroom, one in the kitchen and two in the living room. I don’t even need to use AC.

Small but mighty!
And mighty good. I’ve avoided getting an air conditioner, in large part because my two older Vornado fans, both small, are so good. Now I’ve added a third small one — metal, green, vintage-look — and it is even more amazing. Powerful, sturdy, silent. So I still won’t be needing you, a/c, I’m good!

Excellent Fan
Bought this a month or so ago. Works surprising well for being relativley compact. Really circulates the air. And it is build with metal. It is heavy and solid. Built to last, not as a disposable fan.

I may have an addiction
This is now my 4th Vornado. It all started when my Vornado I purchased in the 90s finally gave up the ghost. It was dual purpose - heater or fan, depending on controls selected. I then bought a small classic mini, which is a solid product l that is perfect on a desk. Then, I bought a classic heater and now this one. I really like the quality of the retro ones, even though my first was heavy duty plastic. They look great in my Dad's old 1948 ranch style house

This is my 5th Vornado product and I am extremely satisfied with all of them, they work great, are quiet and do the job of circulating the air.. when I run the AC I have one in front of vents and cools down the whole apt, we live in NH so its muggy and hot at times... wonderful product and I just happen to love the vintage look, thank you... Looks Cool, but Doesn't Cool
Looks cool, but just doesn’t cut it as a useful fan. The highest setting is the only one where you can actually feel the air blowing, but the sound has such a terrible frequency that it cannot be used for sleeping. The difference between the high and medium is so drastic, and low is like me trying to cool down my hot food.
