Q: Can this be connected to a large propane tank?
submitted by Billy - 28 days ago
A: Hi Billy! The compact model utilizes only disposable cylinders. We recommend taking a look at the standard-size Traveler, as it can accommodate a full-size, 20 lb. fuel tank when using an adapter hose (#6501). We hope this helps!

Great all around grill

I bought this Weber traveler grill for my mother who is 80 years old and I couldn’t be more pleased. It is very light and came almost fully assembled. She is able to move it around her yard as she pleases. And it grills perfectly she cooks a lot on it and uses it almost every day we attached a large propane tank to it, and it couldn’t have been easier, but I still appreciate the fact that it can take small propane tanks that she can purchase at the hardware store on her own if need be, she loves the easy start feature and is generally happy about the whole thing. I would recommend it for travel or permanent residence whichever suits you best.

The grill was boxed very securely. It was easy to put together. The grill is easy to use, and works well. Keep in mind that this is a small grill, and does not have the features, and capabilities of the larger Weber grills. For its size, it works very well.

I had a small area on our deck and always heard good things from Weber owners so I checked to see if they had one that would fit. Found the Traveler but it was a tad too big, then saw their "Compact Traveler"! Looked right so I ordered and received it soon after. Great single burner BBQ with a good grill area and surprisingly heats up quickly and pretty darn good! The option to fold down and stand up on its end or can hang on a wall is the best I've seen yet. Can be easily stored out of the way which is a great benefit unlike the larger cabinet models which is a trend I think is ending. I bought the extension hose to connect to my 20 lb tank but so far using the 1 lb disposable to judge the time per canister. I'm impressed to say the least, should have purchased ages ago and Weber keeps in contact with their customers which is a bonus after sale perk. I had a little trouble with the unlatching to fold down where it was new I guess. Finally when it unlatched, I did it the lock, unlock procedure repeatedly to free up the mechanism. Seems okay now.

It’s great price. it is everything it says it is easy to set up. And to take down. The only draw back I see is trying to screw on the little propane can that is positioned under it.

The small size and simple use is great for me. It's easy to control the temperature and when I need to put it in the garage during the heat of summer when it's too hard to cook out, it's so easy to move.

Being a new solo RV full timer, I researched extensively for the right grill. I opted for Weber but was hesitant between 2 Traveler models: the regular and the Compact. I visited a local store to compare and that convinced me for the Compact and I don't regret it at all. Just the perfect size and weight. Top quality. Easy to use and fold. Great portability and cooks like a champ. Just love it.

Big upgrade when it comes to quality of any bbq I have owned, used the small tanks for a few weeks then we got the adapter hose to adapt it to a regular size tank, definitely worth getting the adapter for it

I bought this grill a month ago & used it two times. Each time the heat output decreased until it would only burn on low.

I purchased both Traveler grills. For the most part they work fine. I'm having trouble with the smaller one getting hotter than 300. However, they cook well.

Perfect grill for an elderly couple who don't entertain much any more and have little need for a larger grill. But still occasionally have a taste for grilled burgers and steaks for two. Weber quality a plus.

Over the years, I have owned many grills (most of them Weber). In the past, I always bought more of the standard sized units on the assumption that if I was entertaining friends I would need the larger capacity. However, now in retirement where our usage is just me and my wife, we have downsized to the Weber Traveler and it is great. The grilling surface, though smaller, is still adequate for cooking multiple items. The smaller propane tanks are easy to install and make moving the grill much easier, but what really is nice is the on/off process. No more turning on the gas tank before the igniter, just turn the single knob past the igniter and bingo the spark lights up the flame (and the same process to turn it off. As far as the taste of the grilled food, we are not noticing any difference. While we will not be taking this grill for any camping purposes, I would still recommend purchasing one if you want a small grill that operates like a bigger one.

I replaced by Q series grill with the Traveler. I like that the Traveler has a thermostat which my old Q series didn't have. I wish the top was cast iron, but besides that I am reallly enjoying it!

We bought this grill expecting Weber quality. It has been a problem in less than a year. First, the grill holes are so easily covered by drippings because there’s nothing protecting them from the cooking. Then the grill doesn’t light. Second, the black paint on the inside of the lid has completely flaked off getting onto food. Truly unbelievable how poorly made this is. I strongly recommend that you do not buy this grill.

Thank you for your feedback and for choosing a Weber grill. We apologize for the frustration with the grease management system. We recommend cleaning the burners with a stainless steel grill brush to remove excess buildup. The material inside the lid is not paint; it is a natural byproduct of grilling called carbonized grease. This can be cleaned off easily and it is not dangerous or toxic. The Weber Care team is here to help! Please look for our email outreach soon. Thank you!
