Q: It says recommended mattress height 6-8 so a 9.5 inch mattress is no good ?

A: Dear Customer, thank you for reaching out about your interest in our product. In principle, a 9.5-inch mattress can be used, but please note that the height of the edge armrest is 10.8 inches. Using a mattress that is 9.5 inches thick might affect the overall aesthetic appearance of the bed. Have a nice day!
