Some outdoor and net lights list an IP44 rating for the wire and LEDs (note: battery boxes are often not waterproof). Powered strands may also show safety certifications such as UL or CSA.

Some sets include mounting pieces like suction cups or small mounts and end connectors that let you link multiple sets. Separately, clear decorating clips are commonly recommended for installation (about one clip per 2 feet).

Lengths vary by type: short icicle strands are shown around 3 ft (often with a longer lead), net lights can be multi-meter (for example 2 m × 3 m), and string options range from about 11.33 ft up to roughly 49.2 ft. Some items also list 48-inch lighted lengths.
