A deep wall-mount pocket can hold about 400 pages of paper or roughly 5–8 magazines (approximately 5–8 pounds).

Many hanging file containers include cut-out or molded handles for carrying. Some clear plastic boxes also add molded handles plus latch or snap closures to make transport easier and more secure.
