Do all of these come used? Both the original iron and the replacement have water droplets in the reservoir and burnt on something on the plates, but both irons have a zip tie thing on the plug. I dont get it!

Poor design of temp control
Poor design on the temp controls. Does what an iron should do, but the dial to set the temperature is grey with dark grey print. When combined with the way the dial sits in the shadow under the handle, you can’t see where the temp is set even when turning the device on its side in an attempt to read it easier. And the placement of the temp control is such that it is frequently moved simply by picking up and holding the iron.

I went back to my roots with the Black & Decker, Lol. This is a good medium weight iron that produces GREAT steam and glides effortlessly!! This $30 iron is just as good as my previous $130 Rowenta iron and it has a retractable cord, which a plus plus!!! 10/10 I recommend 👌🏾

Good iron. Easy to fill, designed for tap water. Plate irons smoothly. Here is where it gets tricky: the retractable cord. The retractable cord is convenient and keeps the cord out of the way. This is also a downfall. The cord does not always retract completely and sometimes takes multiple tries. The cord can twist while retracting. This causes a bit of a jam. While neither of these are a major deal, it leads to a bigger problem. The “top edge” of the cord begins to get shredded. This will not be a long term usable iron…mine is a year or less old.

Spray and steam buttons do not work
I have bought Black+Decker irons for years. Have found them to be reliable and inexpensive. Bought an exact replacement two weeks ago for one that was ready to be retired. At first I thought the cord was too short but realized I had not pulled the cord out to its full length. Took a little tug to “dislodge” it and then it was fine. The iron performs well with one exception. Neither the spray button nor the steam button works. The iron steams nicely on its own but the button does nothing…no extra burst of steam. No spray whatsoever from the spray button. This is a feature I liked and used with my previous B+D. I called customer care and got a recording that due to Hurricane Melissa the customer service line was temporarily unavailable. The recording gave an email address that did not match what is in the brochure. I will be returning this iron to my place of purchase given these facts. I rated this iron three stars because of the buttons. If I did not use these buttons, then I would be very satisfied with this iron.
