Close to great
I bought one of these to more effectively collaborate remotely. This device is very promising, but some real downsides make it hard for me to wholeheartedly recommend at this time. Pros: 1. Hand removal, to show the text underneath works really well. Looks great -- I like the version that overlays a 'ghostly' hand too. 2. Easy setup on Windows 3. Adaptable to different whiteboard sizes. 4. Easy installation Cons: 1. Expensive given the list of cons below 2. Not as good of an image sensor as I would have expected at this price point (see the attached photos). When I need a picture of the whiteboard to save, I still just use my smartphone. 3. Should have come with the Polarizer in the box, instead of being a separate. Many whiteboard types otherwise look weird in the image. I've attached two photos, one with and one without the polarizer. 4. Poor ChromeOS support -- it doesn't always work as a normal camera. It is very easy to cause it to fail in Google Meet, rarely works in the camera app, and can break in Zoom. 5. Weak Google meet support. What I wish for: A button for sharing is cool (though not compatible with my setup). What would be cooler is a button to save a photo of the current whiteboard content, send it to the cloud, automatically transcribe any text, and save as a PDF. This would make it searchable and indexable.
