Q: Does this have a very strong pine odor?

submitted by dedeMay - 8 years ago
  • A: Returnable is this product

submitted byDK - 1 year ago
  • A: No. Its the best litter I've ever used

submitted byMicia - 8 years ago
  • A: Very pleasant pine scent. Like walking in a pine forest.

submitted byJohnnyMoe - 2 years ago
  • A: No this doesn’t have a strong odor at all. The only litter our cat would use. Very good litter.

submitted byKim - 8 years ago
  • A: no --no odor what so ever i have been using this and only this for 11 years it is great

submitted bypatte - 8 years ago
  • A: No--it's more of a wood-shaving smell, and it's pretty mild. It's strongest right when you pour it out of the bag, but it dissipates pretty quickly.

submitted byChristine - 8 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question, dedeMay. There are no added mineral or clump aids in the Feline Pine Original. Variation in product scent would be due to natural variation. Q: Does this litter track out of the catbox and around house, like the clay litter does?

submitted by TJ - 8 years ago
  • A: This is the best litter I’ve ever used. As for tracking outside the litter box, I only have to pick up a few pellets each week. Very minimal tracking ( naturally it depends on how full your box is). Cats love it and so do I

submitted byKristyATL - 8 years ago
  • A: At first when the pellets are whole, it will not track. However, if you leave it for a long time whithout replacing ( a week or so), you will begin to see saw dust outside the box.

submitted byJustMe - 8 years ago
  • A: Not at all. I love this product and will never use another cat litter. Sometimes a few pellets are kicked out of the box when the cat is scratching, but it is right there by the box and can be picked up and put back in. Best litter ever!

submitted byfrmrhstprof - 8 years ago
  • A: I have a shifter box and I give it a little shake every day when I clean it out and a litter mat outside the box. Only rarely do I see a few shavings.

Q: Question 2: are these pellets any different than the pine pellets burned in woodstoves, which are 40 lbs for 6-7.00? Thanks!

submitted by TJ - 8 years ago
  • A: “Feline Pine has been put through a special process that removes the volatile pine oil that has been found to harm cats. Some stove pellets still have that oil and they have been found to be harmful!”

submitted byAnimalLover - 8 years ago
  • A: no they actually look like rabbit pellet food but beige i have been using this product for 11 years they also tell you to use this if your cat gets surgery or if someone in your home has allergies the pellets are just made of pine and they become a powder also can flush down toilet --put in garden --no smell --no powdery smoke like the clay cat liters have when you pour it in hope this helps patte

submitted bypatte - 8 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question, TJ. We can only speak about our product. The Feline Pine Original Cat Litter is 100% kiln dried pine; it contains abietic acid, which is a resin found in all pines, mineral oil, and pine oil. It is made from sawdust byproduct from lumber mills is collected and compressed into tiny pellets. If you have any further questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to call/text us at 800-833-9532. Q: I have an allergy to mold spores from pine xmas trees... Would this litter bother me or are mold spores eliminated?

submitted by TMS - 6 months ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! Feline Pine™ is made from kiln-dried shavings of 100% natural pine, which helps remove moisture and eliminate mold spores typically found in raw pine. Q: I have a litter that's similar, I tried scooping the poop out and must of stirred up the urine smell. Do you leave this alone and just completely change out weekly? I've only used clumped litter. HELP

submitted by auntzissy - 3 years ago
  • A: We’re sorry to learn of your experience, auntzissy. Feline Pine Original is made from 100% pine. Sawdust byproduct from lumber mills is collected and compressed into tiny pellets. These pellets act like tiny sponges that absorb urine and break apart into sawdust. You scoop the solid waste daily, and gently shake the box so that the good pellets will float to the top and the sawdust drops to the bottom. Leave the sawdust in the box as it is still working to absorb moisture and odor. When the box is about 90% sawdust it is time to dispose of and start the 1" process all over again. We'd like to make this right if we can. Our team is available to help by phone/text message at 800-833-9532, Monday - Friday, from 9 - 5 Eastern. Q: How would you compare this to Breeze litter pellets

submitted by Linda - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Linda, Feline Pine™ Litter is made of 100% All-Natural Pine for the best natural odor control without added fragrance. It is 100% chemical free and sustainably sourced without cutting down new trees. Feline Pine™ Litter fully absorbs urine, with no dust and no tracking. Breeze litter pellets are made from Mordenite Zeolite, according to their product page. Thank you.

  • A: I've been using this litter for many years and it's great! When I bought a Breeze litter box, it came with a sample of their litter but it does absorb urine like Feline Pine and causes a urine smell.

Q: is this the kind of litter that works with a sifting litter box? or can i just use a reg litter box? :3

submitted by Marcel - 5 years ago

Q: Does this work with litter robot?

submitted by Mamabear - 6 months ago
  • A: Hey! Feline Pine Original isn’t compatible with Litter-Robot systems, since the non-clumping pellets don’t work well with automatic sifting. For best results, we recommend using it with a sifting litter box designed for pellet-style litter. 🐾

Not The Best Cat Litter Ever!!!!!

Not the very best litter ever, my two cats didn't like at all. They would use the litter box just to go pee but, wouldn't poop in the litter box. This went on for a week right after I had bought the pine litter on Sunday September 18, 2025. They weren't that happy about it so, with this being said in my humble opinion, don't go switching from regular clumping scoopable cat litter it would make your cats very unhappy.

No

Even if my kittens liked it, it’s still pretty awful. While it doesn’t actually track (ie get in their paw pads), the pieces are so big that they fly out of the litter box- either when they dig or when I scoop. They also get stuck in the holes of my litter scoop. They really don’t like it though, my younger kitten still won’t touch it, but the older one has only taken a poo in it once (she uses the normal tofu/clay Pidan litter to pee). And they poo a lot (they’re kittens, so a word of caution perhaps to those who own kittens or older cats). Sometimes the poo is soft. What happens when they have a soft poo on pine litter? Apparently, it mostly sits there. The pieces of pine seem to be too big to really do anything about it. There is poo smeared up on the side of the litter box, to make matters worse. My apartment now smells of poo. I don’t think it’s very pleasant, personally. So even if they do end up taking to it, I’m silently hoping they don’t because it might be good for clumping with pee, but my kittens don’t think it’s fit for that…

Thanks for giving Feline Pine™ Original a try—we’re sorry it didn’t work out for you (or your kittens). The large pellets are designed to minimize dust and tracking, but we understand they may not be the best fit for every cat household, especially with kittens who can be picky about texture. We’d like to learn more and help find a better solution for you and your pets. Please call or text us at (800) 833-9532, or chat with us at www.armandhammer.com, Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM ET, and provide case #: 07773920 so our team can assist further.

You can buy a 40 pound bag of pine pellets at tractor supply. This is a waste of money for the poundage vs price.

Price too high, can buy more cheaper elsewhere. Something to consider if you have multiple cats.

Better than clumping litter.

I prefer this much better over the granule clumping litter. Controls smell well. More economical. It’s not completely mess free, but I prefer it over the tiny grains of litter that get tracked onto my bedsheets. I just wish more stores carried it. I have to travel out of my way to get this as my nearest Target quit carrying it.

Hated it!

My cats hated it and pooped outside of the box. I also ended up with a flea infestation that I did not have at all before I bought this litter. I would give zero stars if I could. This was a huge waste of money.

The product is fantastic. The delivery on the other hand, was delayed, and when it did come, it was entirely out of the box. The box in fact was dropped off as an afterthought. Will likely be considering other options since this item no longer seems to be stocked in stores.

A Natural Choice for Your Feline Friend!

I like it's natural pine scent effectively neutralizes urine odors without added fragrances or chemicals. The pellets absorb moisture and break down into sawdust, which can make scooping a bit more involved compared to clumping litters. While it produces minimal dust, some users report that the sawdust can track outside the litter box. This litter is best suited for single-cat households, as it may not control odors as effectively in multi-cat settings. Oh no! It sounds like Feline Pine Original wasn’t a hit in your household. While we love its natural, low-dust formula, we understand that every cat (and their human) has their own litter preferences. Since it's a non-clumping formula, cleanup can feel a little different—some pet parents find using a litter box liner or a scoop with larger slots helps with solid waste removal. We appreciate you giving it a try! If you’d like to chat more about your experience, call or text us at (800) 833-9532, or chat with us at www.armandhammer.com withy our case number 07475221, Monday - Friday, from 9 - 5 Eastern. 🐾

Not for all cats

The litter didn’t work for us. We have a 7 month old kitten and a 2 year old cat and they share the box and the 2 year old started going outside of the litter box since having this. We only used it for about 4-5 days. Changed back to the smart litter and so far has been using his litter box again. So maybe the texture or smell of this kind is not for all cats.
