I grabbed the Virtual Violet shade to refresh my violet hair and touch up my roots, but it came out magenta instead. The color was way off and didn’t match what’s shown on the box. Pretty disappointed since I was just trying to maintain the color I already had.

The scent is a little strong but the application was very simple. I used both boxes that came in the package and it was more than enough. The hair still kept a curl and the moisturizer that came with it was a plus!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the Dark & Lovely Fade Resist in Vivacious Red (394) and I am in LOVE with the results! 😍 The color came out so vibrant and bold, exactly what I wanted for my villain era look. It gave me a rich, shiny red that really pops and makes me feel confident. What I also loved is that the formula didn’t dry my hair out. The included moisture mask left my hair feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated. That’s a big deal for me because with past dyes, my hair would feel brittle afterward. The application was super easy, and I appreciated that it’s made with 97% naturally derived care ingredients and is paraben-free. Plus, the fade resist really delivers—I can tell this red will last! If you’re looking for a bold color that makes a statement but also cares for your hair, I definitely recommend this shade. I have tried this color in the past when my hair was a dark brown and worked on my black new growth. Either way, it is a great color and product and turns out a vibrant red depending on your base color.

The color on the box looks bold and vibrant, but on my darker hair it didn’t turn out that way. Instead of a true red, it came out more like a reddish-brown. It’s still pretty and gives my hair a nice shine, but it’s definitely more subtle than expected. If you’re looking for a dramatic, fire-red look on dark hair, this may not give you that result. However, if you want a softer tint with warm red undertones, this could be a good choice. I do like that the formula is gentle and includes a moisture mask that left my hair feeling soft.

The formula was easy to apply and didn’t have an overwhelming scent. My hair felt soft and moisturized after coloring, which is a huge plus since I’ve had dryness issues with other brands. The color payoff was phenomenal even on my dark natural hair, and it didn’t fade quickly like some reds do — I still have beautiful tones weeks later. It also covered my grays perfectly without making them look dull. If you’re looking for a gorgeous, lasting red that keeps your hair feeling healthy, I highly recommend this shade!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been doing my hair with dark & lovely since i was 12 and this has NEVER let me down, never had any hair damage, the smell isn’t bad it’s barely noticeable, the color is always correct and it literally takes less than 45 minutes to completely dye my hair. The only thing is I do need two boxes cause one doesn’t do a full coverage

I was pleasantly surprised with the color vibrancy and how my curl pattern was still intact. My hair was already colored with a similar color, and it did a good job of enhancing it. My only issue was with the smell which was quite unpleasant.

I'm not a huge fan of any scent from hair dye. I did a testing strand on my hair and didn't like how it came out. I didn't bother to take a picture of that. I'm not familiar with using box dye, so it's not user-friendly. At home jobs don't always come out the way we want them to, but it's always on the consumer and not the product. I'm just not a big fan of box dye in general.
