Q: Does this bed need a box spring?

  • A: Yes it does. I bought an 8 inch memory foam mattress and there is a gap of about 9 inches from the top of the mattress to the bottom of the headboard. Plus the mattress sinks into the gaps between the wood slats. A box spring is definitely necessary.
