5qt Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven Cream - Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia

A: I got this as a gift. I dropped the lid from about 3ft. The lid’s enamel broke off in a ragged circle around the outside of the lid knob. Is there any way to patch it? The cast iron is rusting and shows. Is it still safe to use? Thanks,

A: Bread bakers use enamel pans preheated empty in the oven. So it's ok but with that said, the quality of the cast iron construction will determine how well it tolerates this treatment over time.
