  • A: The rear frame assembly uses M5-0.8 x 15 MM Socket Cap Screws to connect the extension arms to the bicycle itself. The bolts to set the extension are depth are M5-0.8 x 10 MM. I added lock washers!

    Terrible quality

    This is a piece of garbage. Horrific quality and took over an hour to figure out how to install. I’m not even sure I’ll use it because of how bad it is but I mangled it so badly trying to install it that I likely can’t return it any longer. Should have listened to the reviews.

    Schwin used to mean high quality

    The first one which we picked up in store was an obvious return. Missing all parts and directions. Target quicky sent a replacement. Think Schwin means quality is a misnomer though. It took us 2 or more hours to put it on the bike. Not easy. We will see how long it lasts. Others we have purchased for our other bikes were much easier to put on the bikes. This rack was not expensive in comparison though. Buy it if you have tremendous patience for installing...you will need it!

    Terrible quality

    Insralled as instructed. No matter what, with minimal pressure, rack slid down and hit tire. Do not recommend.

    Does not work for mountain bikes.

    I did not like this rack. The front rods were too short and the only way I could attach all of the rods at the same time the rack was not leveled and the tail that hold a reflector would hit my tire.

    Fell apart on first outing

    This was fiddly to install due to all the moving pieces, and when I finally got it on it didn’t seem super sturdy. I took it for a test drive with an empty crate strapped on and the screws worked themselves out and the whole thing collapsed. Highly not recommended.

    Good little rack

    Rack works well on my old mountain bike. Come with all the fittings and screws for multiple mounting options. Make sure you get one that has the screws and fitting bag attached to the rack in a clear plastic bag.

    Needs better support, even for lightweight loads

    The rack collapses down into the tire, even when carrying less than 10 pounds. The rack needs better support, as the two single supports in the rear are not sufficient to evenly distribute the load, causing the two front connections to bear some of the cargo weight. This seems to be causing the front connections to the bike frame to loosen, and then rack falls down into the tire.

    Screwed on so tight at the factory it chewed up my adjustable wrench

    The bike rack comes with two built-in nuts that must be loosened and tightened with an adjustable wrench. But, one nut was fastened so tight at the factory that it would not loosen. Scraped up my adjustable wrench after 30 minutes of trying, then went to the hardware store and got a fixed wrench to do the job.

    The mounting piece has 2 pins which under any amount of weight will fail and push the flat mounting piece down and scrape against your tires

    Excellent Rear Bike Rack

    The rack was perfect for my daughter's Schwinn Travease MTB. The quality, the price, and installation was spot on for us. All our MTB's have rear bike racks (2 Schwinn racks that are on 2 Schwinn bikes the other bike is a different maker and rack) this makes the bike attractive and the rack is very useful. I recommend using Schwinn 9 in 1 multi purpose tool set you can purchase at Target. This is a must for all bikes and a adjustable wrench or metric wrench set to assemble.

    Dont buy. Adjustable = weak points

    The rack is unstable and does not stay in place once attached. I had maybe 10 lbs on the rack and it came loose and damaged my rear wheel.

    Schwinn Rack

    I bought one used, installed it on my 7 speed cruiser and loved it so much, I went out to the store and bought another one for my wife's bike! I just might get a couple more for my other bikes, they look awesome on the bike, are very sturdy & well made & very affordable compared to the other racks on the market. As long as you know how to use tools properly, you'll have no problems with this rack!

    worst rack I've purchased

    My first ride with the rack both caps holding the rack in place fell off making the rack completly fall off. another bad thing about this is that the two black metal peices holding it bent inword and snapped. I would not get this rack ever again because it is not durable.
