We use Ipomea Batatas Root Extract as an ingredient in our Shark toothpaste which is a purple color and provides oral care benefits. Our ingredients do not contain 8 major allergenic foods, however they are processed in a facility that also processes these allergens. • Milk • Eggs • Fish • Crustacean Shellfish • Tree Nuts • Peanuts • Wheat • Soy Toothpaste is not manufactured on equipment that is shared with anything other than oral care products. Per our FDA registration and cGMP compliance, we are required to follow strict cleaning protocol. A: Hi Sarah, this is Lisa one of the dentists and co-founders. Thank you so much for reaching out with your question. We created our products for kids to be totally safe for children to use. As dentists, we understand that children don't really learn to spit effectively until they are around the age of 8 so it's normal for them to swallow a little of the paste while brushing and this is totally safe. What I used to recommend to my patients is to encourage your child to spit when they are brushing but set your expectations- it may take a while for them to learn how to do this properly. It's totally ok if they swallow some of the remaining toothpaste while brushing. I hope this helps and if you have any further questions, I'm so happy to answer. I absolutely love this company and their products!! My son is extremely averse to brush his teeth, and has hated almost every single toothpaste we have gotten for him. I have bought every brand and flavor of kids toothpaste I could find. But he really likes this one! The only other toothpaste he has tolerated was a green toothpaste by the same company. I couldn't find it at Target anymore, so I reached out through their contact page, and Made by Dentists was super quick to respond, letting me know it was discontinued. While we were super bummed, we gave this kind a try, and it was a hit! We also signed him up for their anti-cavity club, which is beyond cute. He loved getting his anti-cavity card in the mail, and we love to use it as a reinforcer for teethbrushing! It is a total win all around.

My 5 year old refused to use this toothpaste. He says it was disgusting and the texture was gross, and he loves watermelon flavored things. The color was fun and different, but even I agreed the flavor was horrible.

Disgusting flavor and color
Tastes disgusting! Both of my kids tried the watermelon and bubble gum flavor and thought they were disgusting, so my husband and I tried them and we agreed. How did this get through flavor testing and people are buying this? Not only that, but the watermelon is this gross looking gray sludge color that is off putting before you even try it.
