Educational Insights GeoSafari Ant Factory with Sand, STEM Learning Toy, Ages 5+

The certificate included does not have a code and there is no way to use it to get "free" ants. The ants are an extra $5 plus S&H. Also, the feeding tools were not included in the kit we received. So, I spent nearly $50 for a plastic case and small bag of sand. Overall, I am dissapointed with the value for the price I paid.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Educational Insights GeoSafari Ant Factory provided an excellent summer science experiment for my children. I don't believe this should be left within reach of younger children as my kindergartner nearly knocked this over several times in his excitement while supervised. Overall my children were extremely happy with the ant factory and had fun watching the colony grow.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was an awesome experience for my 5 and 7 year old boys! Even their dad and I were sucked into watching the ants hard at work! You can easily see all their tunnels. The only downsides to this were 2 things. First, it took about a month for ants to arrive from antsalive and that was frustrating, although they eventually made it right. And second, instructions say to leave 2 inches of open space at the top, I wish I would've left 3 or 4 inches. When they start building more, the sand keeps getting lifted all the way up and I keep having to gently tap it down so I can take the little cover off to feed them. I also love that it's clear on both sides, because you can see a lot more without a picture on one side!

This kit is very durable and easy to use, watching your ants is very neat. Actually getting the ants from the suggested site took a while and they were all dead on arrival the first go around so had to reorder. The kit itself is very nice, would definitely recommend.

The only complaint I had was the company that you can purchase the live ants from. I ordered them and they took FOREVER to get to me and when they finally did they were dead. I just caught some of my own ants and put them in the factory.

So far it hasn't and we've had it a few weeks. It is very cool to watch how ants act and my 6 year old is very entrigued and shows me new things everyday.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Educational Insights Ant Farm was fun and educational. We had to wait a few days for the ants to be delivered, but they were free to order. There is a coupon included with the ant farm. It was very easy to assemble, abd there wasnt much of a mess. I did keep it on my porch, because I was a little uncomfortable having ants in the house. My daughter is 12 years old and had a lot of fun watching the ants build a home. She felt bad for keeping them locked up, so we did release them. This is a great tool for school or anyone who is interested in learning about ants. I received this item as a free sample.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great way to show the life cycle of ants. It took about three weeks after we ordered our ants for them to arrive. We quickly filled the ant farm with the sand provided and used the hole maker to make their tunnels. We added our ants. I wanted to give it a few days before reviewing so that I could give an honest answer. It's a little scary knowing how dangerous harvest ants bites are. I was concerned most with them being in the house. The ant farm seemed secure at first. However my son tipped it over and the top fell off. A few of the ants escaped. On the package that comes with the ants, says if they escape or get out you need to destroy them immediately. Which is kind of sad. That's what we had to do to the ones that got out. We were quickly able to close it so no more of the ants escaped. The ants mostly stick to the top in our case. They don't really travel down into the sand. Half of the ants we received were dead. Which they warn you of when you make your purchase. Overall my son loves to watch the ants and it's a great way to educate your child. It's fun to watch them. However I would've liked to have the Ant food come with this. Instead of having to buy everything separate because it does get a little expensive. We love the experience of the ant farm.
