Q: Target, is this a different formulation from the previous Up & Up witch hazel, which had "86% witch hazel" as the sole active ingredient, and 14% alcohol as the sole inactive ingredient?

  • A: Glad I checked here. Just opened a new container, no safety seal, and it didn't smell like witch hazel, and it foamed a bit like its soapy. So I put a little in my hand and it felt oily and soapy. I'm going to return it, something isn't right. I've used Target brand for several years, but they've changed something.

  • A: This is not witch hazel. I am not sure how they can even sell it as witch hazel. It is fourth on the ingredients list. But most worrysome is the lack of any sort of safety seal.

  • A: It appears so. It has a bunch of different added ingredients and doesn’t even smell like witch Hazel. When I use it, it feels a little sticky too. Definitely going to return it.

  • A: I bought 4 and none of them were sealed properly. No seal whatsoever. I'm going to try to return them, but fear they'll be refused because theyhave no safety seals, but this is more like water.

  • A: If you look at the ingredient order you will see it is 4th on the list. That means very little witch hazel extract was added. Fake. Surprised Target sells it.

Always check the ingredients

I am disappointed in the product change. The previous version was in a square bottle and had 2 ingredients (witch hazel and alcohol), and I was silly for assuming it was a bottle "upgrade". This one has about 9. It burned my face when I used it the first day, and I should have checked the ingredients then but still tried it two more days before I had to stop. I guess they want this to be more like the Thayers version instead of Dickinsons? It is a good price for the size of the bottle, but the label should better reflect this is a different product that just their plain old witch hazel. I'll be buying mine from another store from now on.

It's not simply Witch Hazel as expected.

I simply wanted witch hazel. The container says witch hazel in big letters. I ordered it and it contains other ingredients. Why would a company use a name that is already attached to another product? I'm very disappointed.

Too harsh on skin

I wish I had looked at reviews and ingredients before buying. The alcohol content in this witch hazel is very high, it’s the first ingredient, for that reason this product sometimes burns skin and is too harsh to apply on the face. Doesn’t even smell like witch hazel all I smell is alcohol.

I'm going to echo the other comments; this Target brand of witch hazel is definitely something else, smells very weird, a strong alcoholic chemical smell, and sure enough BURNS more than it soothes!! Seems like they changed their formula for some reason, the old version of Target brand which Hazel was fine. BUYER BEWARE. stick with the mainstream brand.

I have been using T.N.Dickinson's and lower priced witch hazel for years. Your product has no hitch hazel fragrance. Witch hazel is the 4th ingredient in your Witch Hazel astringent. Beware - Not pure witch hazel

Wish I had read ingredients before placing order. When I realized it didn’t smell at all like witch hazel, I saw that the first ingredients is water! Stick with Dickinson which costs more for a reason.

Careful because mine were filled with an unkown solution!

Don’t bother with the Up and up brand! The ones I purchased were tampered with! They smelled like some sort of soap or bubbles. Neither one had a seal and I didn’t notice. Online chat was no help and told me to report to the store. I’m throwing them away and buying elsewhere I’m reporting it to your chat! If you care about your customers perhaps try to not rely on robotic chats for customer service that literally do nothing. No wonder so many people are boycotting you!
