Excellent model
A very interesting and involving build. I really enjoyed building all of the gearbox and engine components with all of the separate gears and gear change mechanism . I was particularly impressed by the door opening system, which holds the door quite easily in the open position, but is no effort to close again .

Masterpiece
This Lego set is a joy to build and an absolute masterpiece of creativity. It’s expensive, but without a doubt the best Lego set I’ve ever built. My only regret… I fear no other set I buy in future will compare.

Simply amazing
In my opinion, this is a must add to your collection. From the presentation, to the details about the actual car. The build not complicated at all. No missing pcs, and everything lined up perfect when put together. Including the details to registering the product and obtaining the cool free back drops.

Fun build
This was one of the most fun build builds I've ever done. I love technic sets. It was complicated enough to make it interesting. The finished car looks great. The packaging was really special. There are no decals.

Missing Pieces
Not even through step 1 and pieces are missing… very frustrating for the cost of this set.

Great Build But......
This is a brilliant building experience, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The end of the build however is when my experience became disappointing. Having put on the wheels and tyres the front suspension gave way on both sides, the red pins popping out of the supports and the front dropping to rest on the tyres. I have tried reinserting the pins but the same thing happens. I have stripped the build back and checked / tightened the suspension. It is built as per the instructions. This is really disappointing, such an enjoyable build can have a design flaws such as this. To display, a support is needed under the front of the model but it can't be 'played with.' So Frustrating!

It’s never fun when things don’t work the way they should. You might want to try the LEGO Builder app for the 3D version of the instructions to catch smaller details. You'll want to make sure that each part is positioned exactly as shown in the instructions and that everything is pressed together firmly (except the gears, which need a bit of space to turn). If you’d like a hand troubleshooting the build, feel free to reach out at LEGO.build/Service‑BV, we’re happy to help!

love the set!
purchased this set for my 10 yr old son for xmas. He's obsessed with it! He enjoyed every step building it. his one and only complaint I hear is... " mom, I don't like how the tires squeak " as he's pushing it along the table. other than that, He's very pleased with the lego.

Amazing build
I am absolutely in love with this set. It had the perfect mix of challenges and the easier build techniques. It looks amazing and the highlight of the build had to be the transmission honestly lego have some talented and creative people working for them to even make that possible down to the working paddle shifters. Blown away by this set would reccomend to anyone looking for a challenge and a really nice display peice

Not bad, only 22 hours over 2 days to build. It was an impulse buy.

Beautiful set!
I love cars and racing/Formula 1, and found this set on clearance at a local retailer. What a beautiful set. The P1 and the Ferrari SF24, are just gorgeous sets, and great fun to build. The functionality is incredible, and the details really stand out. The only gripe is that it is very expensive at full price.

I got there in the end!!
As a recent convert to Lego as a 65 year old hobbysist i finally decided to tackle one of the largest sets having practiced on smaller Technic sets and some Creator/Icon sets. This is another level in complexity of build. The gearbox alone is a master and quite amazingly connected to a paddle gear changer mounted alongside the steering wheel. I even shocked myself, it worked. I was certain i would have done something wrong. That then lead to the gul wing doors, a whole bag of parts dedicated to each door alone. Quite incredible, and hats off to the Lego designers. This review wouldn't be complete by a mention to the designers of the box. The way it opens out to reveal the 3 inner boxes displaying the overhead view of the car is quite stunning and very much in keeping with a model of this complexity and cost. As a final note, sticker free, something that ought to be done in lower cost models. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an absorbing technical build.

Wheels
You see how everyone in the ‘fan moments’ only show the driver side. It’s because the passenger side wheels stick out far too much. Fix that. It’s a sports car not a monster truck

Thank you so much for your review! It would be frustrating to have a set that isn't resembling the sports car the way it's meant to! If you would like to rebuild your LEGO® Technic™ McLaren P1™ we'd suggest double checking your build as there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be and make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together to make sure the wheels line up. Please reach out at LEGO.build/Service-BV for our brick-helpers get your sports car ready for show!

The Best 1:8 Car So Far...
A thoroughly enjoyable build but suffers from the same problem that I have encountered with all recent builds - They all suffer from an unnecessary proliferation of brightly coloured or contrasting grey parts (Both LBG & Dark Grey). Most of these parts are hidden so why are they even used? One area where they are not is just under the exhaust - Why is that Dark grey area even there? - Its not present on the real car? With the two recent F1 cars I devoted a lot of effort in replacing the random coloured parts but sadly there are just too many to replace them all in this set but I did replace the parts below the exhaust!
