glorious food, accessible recipes

These recipies - and the photos - are mouth-watering to read, and equally amazing to eat. At least so far - we made a few and have more on the cooking calendar this week. You'll need a trip to a Middle Eastern grocer for sure, but you probably knew that already. If you're wondering, "Levantine" is historically the region along the eastern Mediterranean shores, roughly corresponding to modern-day Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, and adjacent areas. The author is from Lebanon and is a James Beard-award winning cookbook author.

Not a good book, weird recipes

None of these recipes are authentic - most of the recipes are so altered that they don’t even resemble their original form. The food that has pictures looks very unappetizing! Her “Levantine” recipes include Indian, Moroccan, Iranian, and Turkish elements. While these are all great, the title is misleading. Also, she barely calls the dishes by their Arabic names and instead uses long senseless English names. Way better books out there, skip this one!
