Cuisinart Portable Wood Smoker & Pellet Grill Smoker CPG-256 Gray & Black

This thing is total garbage! I have used it twice and now every time you turn it on it trips the breaker, absolutely useless!!! I would really like to know what Cuisinarts’s gonna do about fixing this issue!!!

I bought this hoping that it would be perfect for me. It runs hot and I have to babysit it all day because the temperature is always too hot. I’m so disappointed. I wish I hadn’t bought it and would like to return it :(

Bought to use with our new RV. First night we had steaks - best tasting steaks we've had in a long time; second night we smoked a turkey breast . . . wow! We love it!

The grill is behind the times. It doesnt use pid temp control instead it just feeds pellet on a time based schedule so the temp can vary 100 degrees. The pellet feed tube is too low in the fire pot allowing the fire to back up into the tube and catch the hopper on fire. Better brands have remedied this issue by using a deeper pot or baffles. The grill will probably work for hamburg but I wouldnt try an expensive or temp demanding meat on it.

The grill is awesome!!! comes up to temp quickly and maintains it within a few degrees!!! I now cook by time or the meat probe!! Love it!!

Have found nothing so far to criticize! From burgers and steaks to teriyaki chicken and Char Siu. Happy, happy, happy!

I just got this smoker, and have used it twice. I really like it. Only reason I did not give it a 5 seems tho be a lot of dust from the fan. It may be my pellets. I will change to see if that changes.

I like it very well in general. What I don't like is smoke setting is at 200 degrees, which is higher than desirable for delicate meat like salmon (cooks too fast). This wouldn't be entirely bad except that the temperature temporarily ranges above 200 degrees to as high as 230 degrees. Overall temperature range at the 200 degree setting appears to be from 180 to 230, which is wider than I would like.

I wanted to give it five stars and I would have if it weren’t so finicky. In order to smoke (180*) I have to turn it on and as soon as it begins to smoke, turn it off and allow to cool. After it’s cooled down I can turn it back on at 180 and it’s golden. I will add I have reached out to tech support several times leaving multiple messages and emails without a response.

Works great for me and wife. Dont need a big grill and the grill/smoker is great.

My whole family loves it! It fits perfectly in smaller areas and looks great outside on my patio or backyard. It can also be taken on the go, perfect for when we go camping. It’s perfect for an apartment patio or small yard since it doesn’t take up much space. Pellets are amazing and seem to last a long time. They’re cheaper and easier than gas. It produces flavor similar to my parents’ traeger grill but at a fraction of the price. I also like that it’s from Cuisinart so the product is high quality and something that looks good sitting out. It does have an electrical cord so it needs to be plugged in, but that should be ok if you take it camping to a powered camp site or an RV. Overall an amazing product that has made cooking so much more fun and tasty!

We first smoked a whole chicken and after we smoked a tri-tip. Both were super juicy and moist. This is the perfect size to take camping or to the park. Doesn't weigh much and it's easy to carry. Overall, we're enjoying the convince of this wood pellet smoker.

It has earned a permanent spot in my collection of cooking equipment. The build quality of the smoker is top-notch it is very sturdy without being really heavy. The grill and heat spreader are easy to clean and the drip bucket is very handy. It heats up very quickly a holds the temperature steady over long periods of time. I've done tri-tips for a few hours and pork butt for over 10 hours and all I had to do was add pellets. It is also very frugal with using pellets. One full hopper is good for 4 hours of smoke at the smoke setting. I didn't run into any issues with the auger jamming and it started up quickly every time. I do like to have the option to open the sear section and get a direct fire to sear steaks and burgers. This worked well and is great for finishing off smoked meats. The included temperature probe is a great way to track temp without having to open the lid and let out the heat. The controller is easy to use and switches between different temperatures quickly. This is now one of my favorite grills and I can't wait to see what else I can do with it.

It great for smaller backyards or camping trips. What I like about this is that it knows when to add more pellets to keep the temperature controlled. Huge space for cooking, I'm excited to cook for house gatherings now.

The assembly time was minimal and the instructions laid out every step really well. Was pretty easy overall to assemble. The legs are durable and not flimsy. The handle is also sturdy and ensures that I don’t get burned opening it. The pellet chamber lasts quite awhile and hasn’t clogged at all. It holds a decent amount of pellets. It has dual level grills that give it optimal space for meats and veggies which I love. It’s actually pretty huge inside for being a portable smoker. The drip tray hangs easily on the side so the grease has its own little area to drip out and keeps the machine clean. The digital screen makes it easy to select the temperature and stays backlit. It also comes with an external thermometer that plugs in and can sit in there to read the temps of whatever is cooking. The latches that close the smoker are durable and don’t pop open under pressure. Everything is easy to clean and maintain too. Game changer for the avid smoker.

I’m not sure what I was expecting as far as that went however the word portable can be portrayed many different ways. I was portraying it as something that did not require a plug. But otherwise it is nifty and works.

Lightweight hence easy to carry for Barbecue picnics etc. The temperature range is from 180°F to 500°F and is controlled via digital controller. I would recommend it to my friends and family
