Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels Corvette Grand Sport Building Toy Kit for Collectors - 918pc

I thought it would be more like Lego but its definitely not even close. I got it on sale assuming it was better quality but several pieces don’t want to line up and snap into place. The windshield and back window were wrapped up nicely to avoid scratches, something that Lego doesn’t worry about. I would not get anything like this again

It turned out great so far, but it is tough build, for 7 year olds, especially given some of the diagrams. Two constructive feedback from me: 1) Some parts are really hard to plug together. 2) A lot of connections are quite flimsy; not much reinforcement on some structural connections. Example: things are connecting on a 2x1 when there was clearly soace for a 2x2. Exhaust pipes and bumbers come off with a slight touch. With that said, I'd still buy more of these items. Lego fan here but competetion is good. And Mattel will get better with time. For those who are complainig about a misfit of front wheel, you messed up on step 159 (you're welcome!). Also, I did not recieve a free product. Bought it on sale during prime day.

I love building these brick shop cars.

Nice design however parts come off easy when handling. As well I had to purchace 2 to complete one as parts were missing and of different colour's when needed. This is not my first brickshop car and I have has issues with every one purchaced

I am missing 3 pieces the quality control is lacking. I am missing a major piece for the hood. ME08483MM, piece ME742988LG, and one ME03328E.

My son got this as a Christmas present and it has yet to be built. This has been a very frustrating build as the pieces do not properly fit together, it completely falls apart when we try to open the hood or touch it for that matter, back wheels keep falling off, hood is hard to reattach....we have set it aside multiple times to keep from just throwing it away. Will be very hesitant to buy more of these type of designs in the future

I started and finished the Corvette Grand Sport this weekend because I locked myself indoors due to the sub zero temperatures in my neck of the woods. I'm usually all about the main competition whose title begins with the letter "L", but I saw this Vette AND the big Hot Wheels logo on the box, and I had to have it. This was my first Mattel brick build and this is my honest review. First and foremost, the sheer amount of detail the designer put into this build was incredible (the valve covers had the Corvette logo, Corvette badge on the steering wheel, flywheels in the engine, etc... It even had a a serpenine belt!). Secondly, the functioning parts (hood, doors, working steering column, etc..). Those are fantastic! Third, (and some of you may not see the big deal) the fact the tires are made by Firestone...That's just cool in my book. Fourth, that little metal plate with the model of the build you just did and the Hot Wheels logo that finalizes the build. That is the icing on the cake that made me genuinely smile when I set it in place. There are so many quality points regarding this set, even the instruction manual that not only had crystal clear instructions, but also some fun facts! I can't say enough good about this build! BUT...I don't want to come off as someone who was paid to say this, so I will give a litle bit of criticism. If there is ANYTHING to critique, it is the block seams. I understand it might be difficult to create something that has absolutely no brick seams, but that would be the ONLY complaint I had about this build. It still looks great and the build was just incredible. If I had a real complaint, it would be the fact Mattel hasn't created enough sets just yet, but the Brick Shop is only just over year old. I really look forward to my next Mattel Hot Wheels build, and I absolutely can't wait to see what sets are coming our way.

This toy car was a gift; my son started assembling it today and was disappointed. The parts don't fit together as they should, and he can't continue assembling it. Everything seems incorrectly designed. Frustrating.

Super frustrated with the building process. My 10 year old got to the front wheels part and had to stop because the design was faulty. Not enough room for the wheels! Overall, not happy with it. The pieces didn’t stay together tight enough.

Horrible quality! doesn’t stay together and wheels won’t go on. My son was so disappointed.

I bought this as a gift for my 17 year old, he LOVES it! I have recommended this to multiple people since.

I ordered this item online and when received it came in a Target box that looked like someone had kicked it several times as the box was heavily damaged. When opened, the lego toy ordered for Christmas for my son was damaged and with no packing on the box. The item appeared to have been tossed in a much larger box with zero packing to protect it. I took it to the store and asked for help from the worker at the customer service desk. I got little help as the person just told me there was not stock and processed a refund to be returned in seven days as I was dismissed from the area. I left the store upset and without the item I wanted for my son for Christmas. Will not be ordering anything from Target online.

I'm disappointed it shipping keeps changing dates

Purchased this item based on reviews and it's not worth it. Pieces feel cheap, it easily falls apart as your building it. Hood does not fit properly, had to remove top half of engine to get it fit. Front wheels don't fit correctly. Totally not worth the money. I've build hundreds of Lego's and some chinese lego knock off's that fit better than this.

A Christmas gift for my nephew

What a superb set. I bought this when it went on sale, thinking I was getting a really good-looking Lego set. Imahine my surprise when I discovered that this was NOT, in fact, a Lego set. The quality of the pieces, the precision of the fit and the intricacy of the build rival many much more expensive Lego sets, while not only looking better but costing a third the price. Multiple printed and bespoke pieces (the windshield and rear window are their own custom pieces, as opposed to brick constructs) make this kit really shine, and custom decals and multiple body options make it uniquely yours. I cannot recommend this kit enough, and have to wonder how Lego will respond to a company taking their system and making it better.

If you like Lego, you know it is serious business with its own economy. Lego should take note of this Mattel brick building set. It is of comparable quality in almost every way to Lego. It is a much better value at a third of the price and all printed elements instead of stickers. A nice build experience.
