Cole & Mason Electric Battersea Salt and Pepper Grinder

I actually really like this. I love that you can charge it with a usb. It’s a bit slow I guess , based on other reviews , but I personally don’t have an issue with it. The pepper tastes great and comes out ground in a great way. I bought it for Christmas as we had a big gathering. It’s done very well and I use it every day of the week. I don’t even use my regular ones now. lol. I am buying a salt one now. I don’t get the negative reviews on this.

Salt shaker stopped working suddenly. Tried 2 new sets of batteries and nothing worked. The pepper mill is still functional. I am disappointed as now I'm left with nothing to grind my supply of pink salt.

For $40 I expected this to work faster than it does. It’s not worth the price for how slowly it grinds. I end up using my regular ground black pepper rather than this. It would be good for people who don’t like a lot of seasoning in their dishes or for use at the dinner table. It’s definitely not made for cooking.

After 3 months, doesn't work. I've charged it, light comes on, pepper grinder won't work. When it was working, I had to recharge about every 3 times.

Battery life is great, I bought this three months ago and still haven’t had to charge it again which is something I worried about. The grind is consistent and you can change the size

Well, we are getting old (in the 80s!) so using Cole and Mason manual grinders was becoming difficult; these electronic grinders from Cole and Mason make getting fresh salt and pepper a lot easier. They are much more expensive than hand grinders, or even other electronic grinders we considered, but we have had Cole and Mason hand grinders for years, and they are the best. We like these battery driven grinders because we don't have to have yet another appliance plugged into an electrical socket all the time as is the case with most other electronic grinders. However, the grinders don't hold much salt or pepper, so you have to refill the grinders frequently. You also need to adjust your expectations with most electronic grinders, and these are no exception. The ground pepper and salt particles are very, very irregular in size no matter what setting you choose. This seems to be the case with a number competitors' grinders. True, the finest setting can grind the spice to fine, dust-like particles, but the courser settings produce a mix of every size particle from dust to a few chunks at the same time, making it hard to gauge how much spice you have actually put on your food. The manual Cole and Mason grinders spoiled us with their more consistent grind sizes and large storage capacities, but we are going to adjust.

I charged it fully, filled with coarse salt, push the button, it makes sounds and you can see it turning but NO GROUND SALT CONES OUT. I read instructions, turned knob to switch from coarse to fine, tried everything and IT IS NOT WORKING. It’s a lot of money to pay for a salt dispenser and on top of that it does not work. TOTAL FAIL

Takes forever to grind….filly charges and slow as molasses

I bought two Battersea USB mills. one for pepper and one for salt. They work beautifully. More power than the battery operated model. Such a treat for my arthritic hands. My guests love them too!

If you have about 3 minutes to wait to get enough pepper ground for what you're cooking, this is for you. Otherwise, find another.

I was excited to try this type of grinder for my salt and pepper as I have seen them used by all the cooks on instagram! It is sleek and I love it! I thought this one shaker was for both salt and pepper but it is not so if you want to do both you will need 2 grinders. The grinder is adjustable from fine to course so you can adjust it meaning not too course for salt or too fine for the pepper. I also like that it does not push out a ton of seasoning all at once which is great as I don’t want to have to worry about us adding too much spice! I received an incentive to write this review.

Recently my grinder has been really stiff and barely grinding the peppercorns. I thought I would just get a new one until I tried this electric version. It only holds peppercorns in the clear part of the grinder. You do have to charge it when it runs out of battery but that’s small price to pay for a really great kitchen gadget. I find myself using a lot of pepper for certain dishes, and it is very efficient and easy on my hands to push a button to dispense as much as I would like. The grind is a bit on the slower side compared to a manual one. So it takes a bit of time to get the amount you would like out. The nice thing is, is that it is rechargeable. So no wasting batteries. I had started using pre-ground salt and pepper which doesn't taste as good. So I was super excited to find this unit! It's so easy to use, I just press the button and the grinder gets to work! Needlessly complicated to use: attaching and detaching pieces difficult to perform. Two people trying for 20 minutes to get the device to work before repacking for return.
