Good, but too much aftertaste

This syrup is great for what it is, but seems it has a little more aftertaste than the actual diet soda. I'm not a big fan of artifical sweeteners, but try to cut sugar where I can. My kids wanted "dirty root beers" so I was trying to come up with a healthy way to make those at home and pulled out our soda stream machine and used this syrup with a splash of Oatmilk creamer. They loved it, but for me, the artificial sweet aftertaste shined a little too much and I would have preferred just having sugar. Especially for somethng that's supposed to be an occasional treat. For those more used to the diet soda taste, it may be just fine. For me, it just interrupted the soda in a way that wasn't very pleasant.
