Q: Does the wood need to be painted or stained?

  • A: This would can be left as is for a more natural look. But it is pre-sanded so it is ready to be painted or stained if you choose to do so. Hope that helps!

  • A: Yes, you'll need to stain it, white wash or paint it, unless you want it completely natural. If glasses will be set on it, I'd at least seal it with whatever you like to use as a sealant.

Q: 1) what kind of hardwood is this? 2) don't understand what the whitewash is if this chest is 'unfinished'? can I get without whitewash? 3) says 'assembly required' -- with glue or slides together?

  • A: Hello, this item is made from solid parawood. This item does not have a whitewash finish, it is raw unfinished wood. As far as assembly required, hardware is included, however you will need a screwdriver to complete it.

Awesome Piece!

Wow! Having purchased my share of "assembly required" furniture on the internet that turned out to be total junk, I really wasn't expecting to be so impressed with this nightstand. I live in Honolulu, and it's nearly impossible to find reasonably-priced furniture on island and most companies won't ship here. This nightstand is so easy to assemble, and the wood is solid and really pretty. I am very pleased with this item and am going to purchase the matching dresser and bookshelf.

Mostly as expected.

This product looks exactly as pictured. You have to assemble the drawers, but the rails are already attached and everything is extremely easy to put together. The back of the nightstand and the drawer bottoms are a bit flimsy, they aren’t solid wood like the other parts and are probably only 1/8” thick (should’ve taken a picture before assembling. I was bothered by the fact that the product information on the website doesn’t state that it’s part of California’s Proposition 65. I would’ve liked to know this before buying, generally I avoid products I find this warning on.

Highly Recommended

I bought two of these with the intent to paint them. They came packaged very carefully and arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was super easy and efficient. My husband and I have put together quite a few of these kits that require assembly and this was, by far, one of the best. I was pleased that the drawers are on rollers like "real" furniture. Once they were together, I second-guessed my original idea of painting them because the wood grain was very nice and would have looked pretty stained and varnished. I did end up priming and painting them because I was afraid I would never match our other bedroom furniture and wanted them to stand out. One change I made was to purchase 6 decorative knobs and use those instead of the wooden ones they included with the kits. All in all, I would highly recommend these night stands.
