Wholesome Organic Fair Trade Unsulphured Molasses - Case of 12/32 oz

Front of the label says "molasses", but ingredients say "blackstrap molasses". Blackstrap molasses is not the same as molasses that is sometimes called "original" or "true" molasses.

Love this stuff! Five years ago my doctor said my Iron count was low. A friend said to try a daily dose Molasses. I started taking 1-2 tablespoons of Organic Fair Trade Molasses every morning and added Iron rich food to my diet, and since then, Iron levels are fine. I've had a couple of deliveries with a leaking bottle, but I emailed the company and a replacement arrived quickly. I order 4-5 bottles at a time to save on delivery fees and they last for months unopened in the pantry.

The box arrived with molasses coming out of a corner--it was on the concrete step to the porch and by the time we got it, it was covered with a million very tiny black ants--I've never seen ants like that in the 32 years I've lived in this house. The ants around here are large and brown. I worry they were covered with ants before arriving at my door. The box did not sit out there very long. Every bottle was leaking, the caps were loose, and the paper seal was partially loose. If there were ants in the bottles, they were too small to see. I washed the outside and the mouth of the bottles and put them on the shelf. I feel I can use them, but so far haven't been wanting to make any of my cookies. I worry there are dead ants in the molasses. The rating is actually for the state of the delivery of the product. In order for those bottles to be in the condition in which they arrived, even though being poorly wrapped in only one layer of bubble wrap, they had to be very roughly handled.

I discovered Wholesome molasses from Costco a couple years ago. Prior to that, I had never heard of it. But it has an excellent, complex flavor which makes people rave about my cookies and gingerbread. I never, ever use brown sugar; instead, for every cup of sugar, I simply add about a tablespoon full of molasses which gives it a much better flavor.

Rich blackstrap molasses. I mix it into oatmeal, grits, and other cereals. It is sweeter than Plantation brand, but has a slightly different nutritional profile (e.g. it is lower in calcium but higher in iron). The bottle is plastic, which is better for me than glass because plastic is recyclable in my area while glass is not. Also, because it is certified organic molasses, it is processed without the use of dead animal bones, if that is important to you like it is to me.

Promise to replace but till date no replacement

Since my local grocery store has stopped carrying this indispensable part of my breakfast, I've been ordering it directly. Shipping is a bit much but acceptable.
