A Pantry Staple

We buy this couscous by the case! So quick and easy to add to homemade soups as an alternative to noodles. The leftovers keep really well, too, without absorbing all the liquid.

Versatile product

This is a great product. We combined it with some sauteed carrots and onions (didn't have any celery in the fridge) and some chopped herbs before adding the water, and it was wonderful. The couscous cooked to al dente without getting gummy, even when refrigerated. This is going to become part of our regular meal planning.

Bigger grain than expected

While I really enjoyed this couscous, the grain is a lot bigger than I’m used to. Not a complaint, just a surprise!

Cooking tricky

I had a little trouble figuring how to cook this without it sticking to the pan, sometimes badly. Now I simmer for 5 min in a heavy pan, then turn the burner off for the rest of the time (about 10 min). A rice cooker might work, but have not tried it. I am worried that might over-cook it. Otherwise, the product is good.

Gentle on the system pearl couscous

Just discovered pearl couscous. It’s my new favorite ingredient to add to home made chicken vegetable soup. Gentle on the system. Add fresh spinach and a cup of pearl couscous to the soup at the end. It’s ready in less than 10 minutes.
