A: Don’t put it in your eyes.

Q: Is this a mineral sunscreen?
submitted by Bella Doll - 2 months ago
A: The Ordinary UV Filters Face Sunscreen Serum SPF 45 is not a mineral sunscreen. It uses a blend of chemical (organic) UV filters such as avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene.

DO NOT BUY IF ACNE PRONE

I've been on the lookout for SPF specifically for oily-acne prone skin and this deserves no hype. ESPECIALLY for people with acne. I already have active hormonal acne and this "SPF Serum" made it worse. It's very runny and greasy at first, takes time to dry down, and broke me out within days. SAVE your money and pass this sunscreen please.
LOVE THIS!!!

I know all skin is different but this works great for my skin. I'm prone to breakouts and have combination skin. This worked well as both a sunscreen and very effective moisturizer for me. I don't wear make-up so not sure how make-up would build on top of this. It goes on VERY greasy but then blends in and I never felt oily. I'm on my second bottle.
Love the glow

Feels like a glowy serum that smooths out the skin. Its a staple in my routine now under makeup and looks flawless. However i would not reccommend this to someone with oily skin, it may become too greasy for you.
Decent SPF

its not as good as the supergoop one ive dried but this one is still decent. Its very lightweight and not overly oily. Its not a mineral sunscreen so it isnt tinted but it doesnt leave a white cast, at least on me. (I'm VERY pale). I live in Arizona but I havent noticed this has been sweat off or anything. Not sure how waterproof it is.
Disappointing

There is quite literally nothing special about this - it's a normal sunscreen that they've just called a serum. If anything it's worse than normal bc it's greasy. Not worth the price whatsoever.
Sits well with makeup

I love this sunscreen and use it daily! I use it under the elf hydrogrip primer and dont have issues with it breaking. My skin leans towards combo and it hasnt caused any breakouts. Purchased twice now!
Unfortunately pretty greasy

I wanted to like this so bad but i did break out probably because it's sticky and greasy. Will use on other parts of my body to not let it go to waste but unfortunately will stick with my beauty of joseon

I tried this on my hand in store before purchasing and thought it'd be hydrating and easy to blend. Once I tried it on my face, I found it to be way too oily! I had to powder my face to feel like I could go outside, which I never do. Immediately returned it.
Would be great if it didn't cause massive breakout

As someone with combination, sensitive, deep brown skin, finding a daily SPF is a constant battle. I need an SPF that doesn't pill on top of my morning skin care and wears well under makeup without causing too much oilyness or my makeup to shift (a little bit is unavoidable) and doesn't break me out. I double cleanse every night. Anything that I have had some success with is super expensive, so at this price point I had to try it. Initially, I was pleased. It wears really well, with and without makeup and does not leave a white cast. However, after about a week+ I suddenly had a severe acne breakout. The only thing I had changed in my routine was the SPF. The acne is deep and painful and a deal-breaker for this product. The price was too good to be true.

It's a sunscreen, thats for sure. But this one had me looking greasier than I EVER have been. I hoped this wouldnt be greasy since this was a serum, and as someone with oily skin I usually use mineral sunscreens. But oh my god this looks DISGUSTING on the skin, its the equivalent of rubbing straight up burger king grease on my skin. DO NOT BUY!!

This sunscreen has made my face have a pretty bad reaction. I only used this for 2 days and it made my skin very irritated. It's all over my face but definitely a lot more on my cheeks sadly.

I would not buy unless you like everything your face comes in contact with to have white greasy film on it.

Used this twice and my skin had a bad allergic reaction. I broke out, I had bumps all over my face. I'm not sure which exact ingredient in here broke me out but I do not recommend this for people who have dry + normal skin.

This is a staple in my morning routine. It takes a while but it mixes well with my moisturizer and leaves me looking very glowy and it lasts.

Used this once and that evening washing my face my skin felt tender. The next morning a rash of small bumps mainly on my chin and forehead but throughout the day spread over my face and the next day continued to spread down/around my neck and down to my chest. I dont consider myself to have sensitive skin but I am on the normal to dry side. Becareful if you have sensitive skin, try a patch test

I am seriously in love with this stuff! I struggle with fungal acne and tend to have dry-combo skin. I use it nearly every single day. It soaks into my skin really well. I haven't had any issues with breakouts and it doesn't dry out my skin.
